There are certain things we can’t live without, oxygen is an exception for sure. But apart from all the luxuries and physical appliances we are used to live with there is one thing that always stick to our minds. Can you guess what is it? Comparison. Comparing our lives with someone’s online portfolio. Our eyes with someone’s perspective, our work with someone’s effort. But in the end we all end up comparing one thing or another.

Our minds perceive what we want it, nothing has the right to get into our body until we let it in. Be it anything. Trust me anything. We always rely on the outer world for motivation, we look up to others for inspiration but simultaneously we also drive ourselves crazy by our own burning desires. And without even a shadow of doubt I will accept that this habit does not only exists in you but in me and others as well, we don’t usually ponder upon it neither have we ever tried or accepted its actuality. But its real, trust me.

It’s a stupid thing for me to discuss, isn’t it?

Maybe, I won’t be able to stick to the topic.

But I will try at least.

Comparison is not just a word, it is undefinable because when we start comparing ourselves we either see the good and the bad. It never teaches us to have balance in life until or unless we make it do so. But the question arises what forces us to compare ourselves. Unfortunately, ever since we are born we are told that we are either better than anyone or not.

What if the teacher never compared me with the other student?

Or your parents had never compared you with your sibling?

As a student, I study well so when I’m comparing myself to others I would look at their achievements and try to find the empty things in my life so that my sadness and emptiness could surpass all the milestones I’ve achieved.

As a blogger when I read other blogs I immediately realize that my writing is not even close to theirs and then I end up being disappointed not wanting to write.

As a professional I see people earning more than me, being paid more than me. And while envying them I ruined my career.

Now, who should we blame? Ourselves.

Even if we are surrounded by pessimistic people it’s our job to bring out the optimism within us, it seems hard. I know it is but till the time we won’t try to bring a change, we would never be able to. We may don’t consider it significant but it is one of the root causes of many catastrophes in your life, other than that conquering your mind will eventually lead you to success because once you are in control of your mind no obstacle will ever be able to shake you off.

Nothing.
