When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Kristie Dash: Chug two glasses of water.

TG: What gives you energy?
KD: A triple shot latte! And gratitude. It sounds cheesy but I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and that feeling excites me and keeps me going.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
KD: Utilizing email signatures to insert frequently-used responses, mostly in regards to pitches. I learned this trick from email queen @evachen212.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
KD: Yes, we’ve been exclusive for years. My iPhone is the first thing I see when I wake up and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Just kidding — I hate it, but it’s my job to know what’s going on in the world so I check Twitter, Instagram and a lineup of email newsletters as soon as I wake up.

TG: How do you deal with email?
KD: I have an embarrassing obsession with Outlook (it’s so good!) and my inbox is like my to-do list. Honestly, keeping up with it isn’t as impossible as it seems. You can tell I’m stressed when I have more than 100 emails in my inbox. My personal Gmail, on the other hand, is a total mess.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out and why?
KD: I lived in New York for seven years before realizing why people go to the Hamptons. It’s my favorite city in the world but my vacations once every other year weren’t cutting it, hence why I’m now in London.
