Every now and again, we all feel somewhat uninspired. This can happen for a variety of reasons including the monotony of your routine or just being overwhelmed and burnt out. It can also occur if you are experiencing self-doubt or trying to be perfect at something which isn’t possible. Your lack of inspiration can also be related to mental health issues (like boredom or fatigue) or going through a growth phase in your life where you want more.
No matter why you’re experiencing a lack of inspiration, there are some surefire ways to get it back. Here are a few that you can try:
- Mix up your environment. When you are in a new place, you break out of your boredom and contentment and are able to see things from a fresh perspective. You can find a new environment by going for a walk, completing your work at a cafe, or just going out for an outing. It can even be as simple as changing up your office space so that you’re sitting in a new location.
- Try something new. When you’re feeling stuck in a rut, you might be desperate for a new adventure. This could be as simple as trying a different routine, engaging in something hands-on, or just mixing up your process.
- Take in some art. Sometimes we can be inspired by all things creative. When we watch a good movie, read something interesting, or even look at paintings or other artwork, we can be inspired to carry it over into other aspects of our lives.
- Phone a friend. It can be helpful to talk to someone about your situation and garner a fresh perspective. I find that by talking to others I obtain new insight and inspiration.
- Set some innovative goals. Sometimes when we’re feeling stuck, it can be because we are not striving for anything that we don’t already have. If we set some new goals, we’ll have steps to take to make them unfold. This will bring a sense of freshness to our lives and perspectives.
- Do nothing. It may be that we just need a break to find inspiration again. If that is the case, it’s probably best to just kick back and give your brain a rest so that inspiration can come to you with time.
At the end of the day, feeling uninspired is perfectly natural at times. Finding ways to overcome it and getting back in the swing of things is what counts!
