Imagine moving through your day with a peaceful kind of strength, the kind of strength which motivates others to pay attention.

If you agree that the opposite of aggression is not weakness and would like to find the softness in your own strength then you’ll want to listen to this interview.

Let’s get this show on the road!

I’ll be honest, I definitely struggle sometimes with trying to focus my energy and although I’m a peaceful person, learning how to cultivate a peaceful strength is something I’m still working on.

Maybe you’re like me and have to avoid eating too many chocolate covered coffee beans so that you can begin to focus on cultivating a peaceful strength, or perhaps you’re on the other end of the scale and struggle with confidence or self-belief — either way, I’m super excited for today’s episode and hope you’ll love it!

My guest today is Katie Cunningham. She’s the founder of Lead Up, a not for profit organization based out of Antigua in Guatemala which strives to reduce violence in the community by creating peaceful leaders — men and women — by utilizing equine assisted therapy and non-verbal communication.

In 2012, Katie was awarded a certificate by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for her efforts to reduce violence in the training of horses in Guatemala

The 3 simple steps you’re going to learn today have made a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable teenagers and adults here in Guatemala.

Here’s what you’re going to learn in today’s episode:

  • A simple 4 step framework that will help you cultivate a peaceful strength starting now

  • How to shift our focus away from feeling anxious about the present or the past

  • How to quieten the ego driven overactive mind

Have a listen to the full interview over here

The simple 4 step framework you can put into practice starting today to cultivate a peaceful strength:

  1. Acknowledge that change comes from within and that you won’t find your true power and strength by looking outside of yourself.

  2. Shift your focus from being anxious about the future or the past and shut down the chattering mind by accessing the present by slowing down your breathing and using a longer exhale than inhale.

  3. Focus on touch and sound to discover the power of peace whilst remaining present and alert. When you begin to practice this you’ll start to notice tiny moments of presence between the thoughts, as these moments grow you’ll find that ego-driven issues start to fall away.

  4. In the face of adversity, rather than react to your instinct of fighting or fleeing, practice composure, self-control and aim to act in a way that’s more mindful.

“The Opposite Of Aggression Is Not Weakness.”

I hope this conversation helps you not only to take action on moving towards you health, wellness & lifestyle goals but to see what’s possible for you.

I would love to know what the single biggest takeaway from this conversation was for you and most importantly, which one of the four steps you’re going to put into practice this week, let me know in the comments on this page.
