The human desire to control an outcome most often arises from fear of the unknown.

When we want something, we often feel the need to control the entire process from starting point to the finish line.

Take a moment to think about one thing in your life today that you struggle with and can’t fully control.

What is the circumstance, and what is it that you say to yourself when battling back and forth inside your head?

Are you dating someone who you know is not a “nice” guy but you like him so much that you are going to push and hope he changes?

Are you constantly saying yes to things you know you don’t have time for but you don’t want to disappoint others?

Are you taking on projects for your boss that you know you don’t have time for

How much energy do you use up every time these types of situations come up?

What else is it costing you? Maybe your health or a relationship or career advancement? Or is it happiness or success?

In order to manifest the life we want, we have to have faith in ourselves and the work we put into each and everything that we do.

In order to have the life we want, we must surrender.

The biggest misconception about the word surrender, is that we associate it with “giving up” and that we are weak in some way – which could not be further from the truth.

Surrendering doesn’t mean we don’t work for what we want – it means that we work until there is no more work to be done by us and then we release the outcome, trusting we did our best.

The space between the action and result can often be the longest point of each  creates space for what is to come and if we never surrender – we stay stuck, spinning our wheels, exerting energy that gets us nowhere.

Surrendering means accepting that we won’t always be able to “do it all” and “be it all” for everyone.

But that’s okay. Actually, it’s great.

Because surrender means we are no longer fighting our current reality and the things we can’t control.

It means we can take action that will actually get us somewhere – instead of trying to skip 3 steps ahead and then have to backtrack.

It means that we’re “off the hook” because we don’t have to pretend we know everything and can take a rest from acting like we do.

When we place expectations on the outcomes in our life and rigidly try to hold onto false control – we might avoid the “bumps” or “bad things” but we often lose the chance of discovering and attracting things that were so much better than we could have ever imagined.

When we do the work and release the outcome – that’s when the magic happens.

And who doesn’t want that?
