When we connect to the magnificent beauty of the Universe, we might be able to understand the beauty within ourselves. What would happen if more children knew about inner beauty and keep on connecting to their inner resources as they grow up?

“I wanted my children to hear the songs of the universe”.

So I said in my recent TEDx.

Teaching our children to hear the songs of the Universe and connect with the Universe inside themselves is a gift for life.

The power of connection

After ghostwriting “Student Life without stress” and seeing the scary statistics of young people with stress and depression, I wanted to make sure that my girls had access to their hearts understood heart energy and wouldn’t lose that connection as they grew up.

I wanted to be with them, spend my days with them, feel connected to them. I wanted them to feel connected to themselves, to each other, to us as parents, to the planet, Mother Earth, Father Sky, the trees, the flowers, the oceans. I wanted them to hear the songs of the universe.

One night I began telling them heart meditations at bedtime to teach them to connect to their hearts. Now, I was the mother sitting on their bedside, and I did my best to make the meditation stories come alive, just like my father had taught me when I was young.

I made my girls become the main characters and I helped them find their heart inside a beautiful love mountain and taught them to fill their hearts up with love. We explored the many ways of loving, sending love, receiving love, even on a distance and sharing love with those in need.

And then I listened to them. I listened to their words in the days after the meditations. They would tell me the most wonderful things about life, love and the universe. I had a feeling that they were telling me stories from their souls. I had a feeling we were connecting soul to soul. Their wisdom was profound and they were so full of stories.

With the universe, I share my love

I still remember the feeling in my heart when I told my girls how to send love into the Universe and share their love with people in need. They were only 3 and 6 years old. We were laying close together in my oldest daughter’s bed. I had been teaching them about heart energy for some time. And as they opened their hearts, they melted mine.

The fourth meditation in The Children’s Meditations in my heart is all about connecting with the Universe with love.

From The Children’s Meditations in my Heart

From the introduction to the fourth meditation, “With the Universe, I share my love”:

“When we begin working with the feeling of belonging together in the universe and sense that we can affect each other’s lives through love, we create a wonderful feeling of cohesion and unity, which is much nicer than the individualistic and somewhat tough, performance- focused approach that many people in our generation grew up with”.

Today, I received a note on Instagram that one of the teachers at the beautiful Whole Beings, a holistic education community in Australia, had read this fourth meditation to the kids – half way around the world from Denmark where I live. They left me a note:

“Your work is so special! They (the children) even asked for more meditation at the end of class.”

Let’s empower our children

Seeing this gives me hope. I strongly believe in my heart that each generation is an upgrade from the previous. I believe that the next generation is here to make peace. I believe they come with a strong connection to their hearts. We call them sensitive, vulnerable and fragile – give them all sorts of diagnoses. I call them warriors of love – peace makers. If taught how to stay connected to their hearts in a world that seems more and more disconnected, we empower them to ignite their mission.

At my academy, The Momo Academy, here in Denmark we are 45 mindfulness-, yoga- and meditation teachers, who are teaching children to find inner peace, fill their hearts with love and share it with the universe.

I am so happy to connect with more teachers on the same mission from all over the world – like today in Australia. This feels so important. Now more than ever.

Let’s pull out a blanket, lie on the back of Mother Earth – our magnificent blue home – with our beautiful children and listen to the songs of the Universe – together.
