Hello, my name is Jason, I have taken a lot of risks in my life, some have paid off and others have not. One thing that is for certain is that if you don’t take the leap of faith to do something that you believe is the right thing to do then you may always regret what you didn’t do. I am a firm believer that when you are lying on your death bed that you will only regret the things that you didn’t do. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life that I regretted immediately after but when I take a hard look back I realize that if I wouldn’t have made those mistakes I wouldn’t have learned from my mistakes and be where I am today. A great quote that I had read this morning “I never lose, I either win or I learn” is a good reminder that you should at least learn from your mistakes and everything happens for a reason. I think the most importantly it is best to keep a positive attitude and things will always seem to work out in the long run.
Currently, I am living in Costa Rica and operating my ropes course tour in Jaco and working with a shipping company that transports cars, RVs, ATVs, boats, and motorcycles named A1 Auto Shipping. One thing is for certain and it is that I would not be here today if it was not for my previous life lessons that allowed me to take a leap of faith and sell everything I had to pursue my new dream. Things are not perfect right now but in my previous lessons I learned that good things take time, you need to be persistent and don’t give up.
Perhaps the best and the first leap of faith lesson I learned was when I was in my 20s. I was working a good paying job but I absolutely hated every minute of it. It was the kind of job where you do the same thing almost every day and 1 hour seemed to drag forever. I knew I had to do something to get the hell out of there or I would turn out to be one of these guys who has been stuck there for 40 years, I had already been there for 5 long years.
I was playing poker about 4 nights a week at a home game and I was doing very well. I studied the game by reading books and constantly watching it on T.V. One day my friend brought me the movie The Secret and immediately after watching it I decided to take a leap of faith, I quit my job to play poker full time in the city. When I gave my notice the boss man offered me a foreman position, I had to politely decline to follow my dream. In my mind, I was already a professional poker player and I was going to make it. I moved to the city with a friend and ended up making way more over the next 7 months than I ever would have working the old job.
The money I earned from playing poker paid for my first backpacking trip to Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand and sparked my love for travel. The life experiences that I have learned from traveling are probably the most valuable lessons that I have learned.
