When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Jeff Weiner: Clear out inbox, check the news.

TG: What gives you energy?
JW: Meditation.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
JW: Try to schedule nothing for 90 to 120 minutes out of every workday.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
JW: My phone is the most essential device I use, though it’s not in the bedroom while I’m sleeping.

TG: How do you deal with email?
JW: To receive less email, I try sending less email. Also try to clear out all unread email at least once each morning and each night. Lastly, I don’t send email after 11 p.m. or before 5 a.m.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
JW: Go outside for a walk, check news/inbox, or call home.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
JW: It’s been almost a decade.

TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
JW: Don’t give away your power to things you can’t control.
