The current times appear to be. . .challenging times. The current times are painted as. . .dangerous times. The current times are crafted as. . .hateful times. And, yet, citizens and nations are running around in fear. Hoping that the corona virus doesn’t get them. Hoping that soon this all just, goes away.
Well, the bad news, is this. Its not all going to magically, go away. The good news is that, it will go away. More good news is that in the midst of all this. . .bad news, there is still a whole lotta’. . .love! There are many beautiful things going on in the world, in spite of the current epidemic, that the world is facing. The living proof of this current, infinite beauty is that human beings are. . .still alive. The vigilant proof of this current beauty is that culture is still prevalent. Things are being produced and created, every day. That’s the beauty of it all. And, in the midst of what is going on, that beauty should continue to be celebrated. Whoever said that because we are in the midst of an epidemic, that we should enter into a spirit of defeat and sorrow? Look around world, in the midst of this epidemic, we have so much to celebrate!
One of the attributes of any negative period in her/history is the breakdown of the people’s spirits. If anything else, it is the diminishing of the human spirit, which truly deems a period of time, as hopeless. All throughout the media, we hear about the corona virus. We hear negative terminologies spoken about its danger, and the quickness of the epidemic. We hear about the new cases, famous celebrities, and religious leaders testing as positive for the virus. Yes! We hear it all. And, yet, we are still here. Humanity is still alive. Translation: Love is all around us.
There is much love in the air. Greater than any virus, plague, epidemic, or whatever negative comes to harm humanity. Babies are being born. People have gotten engaged to the love of their lives. A painter has just completed a long-awaited painting. A mother has re-united with a daughter she hadn’t seen. A son called his father after years of not speaking, just to check that he is well, during this epidemic. Families have reconciled with each other. As they realize that tomorrow is never promised. Friendships that were broken, have decided to come back for one more try. In the midst of this virus, these are the things not being seen. These precious moments, these loving moments, are happening everywhere. Right as we speak. They may not be on the news station. They may not be what news anchors, politicians, and business leaders are talking about. Nevertheless, they are there.
One of the lessons that humanity has learned, and will continue to learn, is how hardship will force humanity to be kind. They say that you see people’s true colors, during any time of crisis. Nevertheless, when a crisis, or epidemic, is race-less, gender-less, class-less, nation-less, or less concerned about the societal categories, people are forced to care about people. In the United States, alone, governments and local authorities, are opening up private hotels and spacing to shelter the homeless, in order to contain the epidemic. Bills are being voted on concerning economic, care packages for the masses. The interesting phenomenon regarding the corona virus, is it knows no boundaries. There are no regions of the country, which can prevent it from entering. A person can not hide behind their wealth in order to prevent it. Of course, there is the conversation regarding those communities, who can not work from home, and must leave for work, in order to provide sustainability for their families. There are also the healthcare workers, and those tackling the epidemic, first hand. However, the corona virus is infecting, people. It does not care, who. It wants to infect. . .all. And, humanity has learned very quickly that if we want to stay healthy, we must be caring. In order for the virus to not spread, others must be healed. Whether it be through individual healing (distancing ourselves from others), or the collective healing of those, who have been infected.
There are positive things, which have arisen from these difficult times. Humanity, and particularly in the United States, is forced to share the resources, with those in need. A person’s survival, depends on it. Our nation depends on it. That is just for the healthcare side of things. The personal things are happening, outside of the mainstream eye. Happening in a way, where human beings are becoming closer. This is one of the positive outcomes that the corona epidemic is forcing. It may have originated far away, but it is happening all over.
Who is to say that soon an international conference for the gathering of the brightest scientists, from all over the world, will not take place? That ideologies of “superiority” and “inferiority” will be shattered. Another fascination regarding the corona epidemic is how so-called “developing nations,” (particularly those on the African Continent) serve as examples in how to best handle the virus. Of course, their national experiences in tackling the ebola virus, has come in handy for the international community. The world continues to get smaller. Whatever medical discoveries, or vaccinations are created to tackle the virus, will be needed. And, the origins of those discoveries and medicines, will have to be acknowledged.
The world has focused so much on the damaging impacts of the conora virus. The dismantling of job opportunities, halting of certain projects, and cancelling of prominent social activities. Yes, it unfortunate that these have happened. Simultaneously, the corona epidemic is forcing the world to get even smaller. Every community, and nation, is expected to do their part, in combating the epidemic. However small, however large. The commonality of the virus, is birthing a new love. Even if that love is temporary, for some. Its exposing prejudices, and forcing others to come to terms with those prejudices. If our prejudices, and racist beliefs, about others are true. Because when you are in survival mode, you are forced to explore every option, in, and outside, of your reach. How does prejudices cause for missed opportunities? Again, that’s for another piece.
We are living in the time of the Corona virus, and, yet, beauty is alive and well. Couples have reconciled. Younger generations are forced to reach out to that grandmother, or grandfather, they failed to consistently check up on. People have to know their neighbors. Aware of the people residing on adjacent sides of their home. Compassion and empathy is expanding. Concern for one’s vulnerable family members or populations forces people to share resources to each other. This epidemic is different. The reaction is different. Because it can not be solicited as pertaining to a particular demographic. All of humanity is the demographic.
Turn off the television for one day, and clear your mind from the present-day reality. Think about everything beautiful, that is happening during this time. Let’s change our perspective for some time, and see the opportunities, flourishing around. If negative energy was all there was, humanity would not be, in existence. Changing our perspective means that we can use the positive to bring a more hopeful mood for humanity. These current times do not have to dwell in gloom. If we are distant from the ones we love, allow that to bring us closer. Use this time, to appreciate the abundance of time. Preparing us for future appreciation. . .of the preciousness of time.
Love is happening in the time of the Corona. Love is abundant in the time of Corona. Love is operating, in the time of the Corona. So love, and let LOVE, reign, in Corona’s time.
