When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Mark Cuban: Have breakfast with my kids.

TG: What gives you energy?
MC: I stay in shape. Get my sleep, I’m excited for my day.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
MC: No meetings or phone calls unless I’m picking up a check. Everything is email.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
MC: Next to my bed. But don’t wake up in middle of the night or email or anything.

TG: How do you deal with email?
MC: Love it. Live on it. Saves me hours and hours every day. No meetings. No phone calls. All because of email. I set my schedule.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
MC: Nothing.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
MC: Been a long time.

TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
MC: Today is the youngest I will be. Live like it.
