I started as a high school teacher, which gave me a solid foundation in education. But I always felt there was a bigger way to impact learning, especially using technology. In 2000, I launched my first eLearning course, long before the pandemic made online learning a necessity. From there, I went on to establish virtual learning schools both locally and internationally. Eventually, I sold these schools to the largest boarding school in Canada and continued my work by helping organizations develop top-notch eLearning programs.
How did you first become interested in the field of e-learning, and what motivated you to pursue it?
My interest in e-learning was sparked by its potential to democratize education. The idea of making quality education accessible regardless of geographic location or personal circumstances was incredibly inspiring to me. Maintaining academic integrity is a top priority. We use secure assessment platforms, plagiarism detection software, and design assessments that require critical thinking and application. It’s also important to clearly communicate the expectations and importance of academic honesty to students.
