Some people might not like the idea of earning a degree and working for others (my self included). As we plan to start our own business there is lots of information and tricks we need to learn. Many times we feel stuck or are faced with failures.During this time, we can benefit from business coach’s who can help us navigate through our problems. I interviewed Melissa, an online business coach and digital marketing specialists.

Hi Melissa Withers ! I’m excited to share your story and your business with our readers. Tell me little bit about yourself and your work

Hi! My name is Melissa, I’m an Online Business Coach and Digital Marketing Specialist. I help entrepreneurs build businesses that are strategic, purpose-driven and scalable (and fun!).

What were my biggest failures and biggest successes? What did you learn from them?

That is such a great question, I actually love failure. Although it can seem hard to understand in the moment, it is often setting us up for something far greater that we just aren’t able to see at the moment.

Favourite failure – probably a big online course launch that felt like it fell flat on its face. At the time I was devastated, I had invested so much time and energy (and money!) into making it work. But afterwards it turned out to be a huge blessing, the challenge I ran alongside it positioned me as an expert and many of the participants become clients in the following months.

Biggest success – launching my book “The Good Girl’s Guide to Bad Girl Confidence” felt like a major success. It was the first eBook I’ve ever published and it become a best-seller on Amazon. I’ll be publishing my second book this year.

Everything I’ve learned from both failure and success is that things will never go quite to plan, and that is totally fine. I think as a species, we often try to control every outcome in our lives when in fact, the universe has other ideas! I’ve learned to be in flow more and to really roll with the punches, everything in life is in a constant state of flow.

What advice would you like to share with our readers on starting their first business?

If you’re going to start a business, make sure it is doing something that you genuinely enjoy doing. When you’re in start-up stage, you’re often doing huge hours for very little (or no) pay at all, you will need passion and determination to carry you through the hard times. Also, don’t do something just because everyone else is doing it. Fads fade pretty quickly. Whatever you choose to do in life and in business, make sure it is what YOU actually want to do.

What’s your take on how entrepreneurs can make $5k per month?

That would depend on the type of business model they choose and whether it is product or service based. Either way, make sure you are solving a problem of some sort. And remember not to over complicate it, simple is best. If you provide a service such as being a coach or a consultant, find out which pain points you have the natural ability to solve, and package that into an online program. We are all innately good at something, it’s just about exploring what that is and finding a way to package it up.

Please give the readers the best entrepreneurship advice you have

Most people give up right before they become successful, I’ve seen this time and time again. The moment you feel like it is the hardest, when you want to give up the most, that is the moment you persevere with everything you have. You are five minutes away from your miracle, your breakthrough. Don’t you dare give up! Also learn to be flexible in your approach but steadfast in your vision. And overnight success is not a thing. Every overnight success has been years in the making, keep going.
