When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Miranda Kerr:
Give Flynn a big snuggle and tell him how much I love him.

TG: What gives you energy?
MK:
Meditating even if it’s only for 5–10 minutes. Also taking my shoes off and putting my feet in the grass, a good night’s rest, swimming in the ocean, great music, and dancing with my friends.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
MK: Meditating whenever I have a spare moment.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
MK:
In the evening I turn it on airplane mode and play rain sounds.

TG: How do you deal with email?
MK:
I answer them sporadically and would love some suggestions on a great system that works.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
MK:
Keeping life in balance is a continual process. Some days I overdo it and get burned out.

TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
MK:
“We all have bad days, but one thing is true: No cloud is so dark that the sun can’t shine through.”
