Follow these five steps to stay motivated and increase the chances of fulfilling your goals.

1. Write Down Your Goals

Do you know what your personal goals are – or the motivations behind them? Often, we tend to pick up ideas from other people. We create a general list of what should be considered an achievement based on other’s opinions. We have a general idea of what our goals should be – house, marriage, and 2.5 kids. It’s easy to mix it up with the things we actually want. When you write out what you want and how to get there, you often find your actions could be better tailored to your desired outcome. You will start to brainstorm all the ways you could achieve your goals, that maybe before you hadn’t thought of.

2. Break Each Goal Down

Something you desire is set as a goal for a reason. It doesn’t happen overnight! Break each goal down into small pieces and consistently build on it. Consistency is key and taking each day at a time is crucial. Whenever you hit one of the smaller goals, acknowledge it with a reward. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

3. Don’t Take Things Personally

Not everyone is going to be on the same page as you. If you believe you can achieve something, don’t let anything or anyone get in the way of that. When someone tells you, it can’t be done it’s more a reflection of their limitations, not yours. Brush the opinions (and dirt) off your shoulders.

4. Reach Out to Your Network

Once you say what you want, there is no taking it back. When you share your goals, you will start to have people that can hold you accountable. When the mission is a bit challenging, you will have your peers to give you strength and advocate for you. Once your network is framed with your ambitions, they will be more likely to acknowledge your hard work along the way.

5. Act as If You Have Achieved Your Goal Already

Ever heard of the term “Fake it ‘til you make it?” Well, it is true! If you emit the energy you want to receive, it will appear in many forms. If you can make yourself believe you have achieved your goal and embody your vision, so can those around you. It won’t be long before the universe manifests what you have been working towards all along!
