Thank you for having me, Stacey. My story is a mix of battling fear, anxiety, and cancer. For most of my adulthood, I struggled with intense anxiety, which later culminated in a cancer diagnosis. It was a challenging journey, but I eventually found my way through it. To share my experiences and insights, I wrote two books—Reset and I’m a Genius, Just Ask Me. My goal was to offer hope and guidance to others who might be facing similar struggles.

Can you share with our readers the main message or key takeaway from your book Reset?

Reset is deeply personal. It’s about my journey through fear and anxiety, which, at its peak, led to a cancer diagnosis. The main message is that no matter how daunting life’s adversities may seem, there is always a way to overcome them. It’s about finding the courage to face your fears, the perseverance to keep going, and the right support systems to help you along the way.

What inspired you to write I’m a Genius, Just Ask Me, and what do you hope readers will gain from it?

I’m a Genius, Just Ask Me was inspired by my rollercoaster experience in the stock market. In 2020, I made a substantial profit but then lost about half of it over the next couple of years. The book isn’t just about financial success and failure; it’s about resilience and learning from life’s ups and downs. I hope readers gain insight into the importance of financial resilience and understand that failures are just as valuable as successes. It’s about staying persistent and learning from each experience.

You mentioned experiencing loneliness during your battle with cancer. How did you cope with these feelings?

The loneliness during my cancer battle was profound. Even though I had family around, there were moments when I felt completely isolated. No one could truly understand what I was going through. I coped by maintaining a positive mindset and relying on my sense of humor. It was crucial for me to keep my spirits up, even during the darkest times. My family’s support was also invaluable, providing comfort and a sense of normalcy.

What strategies, tools, or techniques did you use to cope with fear and anxiety during your journey?

I used a combination of strategies to manage my fear and anxiety. Exercise was a big part of it; staying active helped me release tension and clear my mind. I also sought therapy, which was essential in helping me understand and address my issues. Humor played a significant role, too—it helped me not take myself too seriously and lightened the load. Combining holistic approaches, like mindfulness, with medical treatment, including medication, was key to my recovery.

How did you navigate the emotional and mental challenges during intense situations, such as job interviews or workplace conflicts?

Navigating these challenges required a lot of self-awareness and courage. In situations like job interviews or workplace conflicts, I had to confront my anxiety head-on. I learned to recognize my triggers and develop coping mechanisms, such as deep breathing or grounding exercises. It was also important to be honest with myself and others about my struggles. Seeking therapy helped me build the tools to manage these situations more effectively.

How did your experience with cancer influence your perspective on life and your approach to overcoming challenges?

Cancer was a life-changing experience that reshaped my perspective. It made me realize the fragility of life and the importance of living in the moment. The experience taught me resilience and the value of a positive mindset. Facing such a severe illness forced me to confront my fears and find strength I didn’t know I had. It also deepened my appreciation for the small joys in life and the importance of human connections.

Can you share more about your experience with therapy and the impact it had on your journey to recovery?

Therapy was a cornerstone of my recovery. It provided a safe space to explore my feelings and confront deep-seated issues. My therapists helped me understand the root causes of my anxiety and develop strategies to manage it. Therapy also gave me the tools to cope with the emotional aftermath of my cancer diagnosis. It was instrumental in helping me rebuild my life and find a path to healing.

What are some essential steps individuals can take to maintain a positive attitude and mindset during adversity similar to what you’ve experienced?

Maintaining a positive attitude during adversity involves several key steps. First, it’s crucial to seek professional help, whether it’s through therapy or medical treatment. Second, incorporating positive habits, like regular exercise and mindfulness practices, can help maintain mental and emotional balance. It’s also important to find healthy coping mechanisms, such as journaling, meditation, or talking to a trusted friend. Lastly, staying connected with loved ones and seeking support from others can provide a strong foundation during tough times.

How important is it for individuals to share their mental health struggles and seek support from others?

It’s incredibly important. Sharing your mental health struggles can be a huge relief and can help break the isolation that often accompanies these issues. It also opens the door for others to share their experiences, creating a supportive community. Seeking support from others, whether through therapy, support groups, or friends and family, provides a vital network of understanding and empathy. No one should have to face these challenges alone.

You mentioned the significance of love and feeling loved. How has love, whether from family or friends, impacted your journey, and how do you think it can support others facing similar challenges?

Love has been a crucial part of my journey. My family’s support provided me with the strength to keep fighting, even when things seemed bleak. Feeling loved and knowing that others care about you can make a world of difference. It gives you the motivation to persevere and helps you feel less alone. For others facing similar challenges, love and support from friends and family can provide a lifeline, offering both emotional and practical help.

Given your experience, what advice would you offer individuals trying to overcome emotional and mental hurdles, whether related to health, career, or personal challenges?

My advice is to be proactive about seeking help and not be afraid to reach out to professionals. Prioritize self-care and find healthy coping mechanisms that work for you. Whether it’s exercise, meditation, or creative outlets, find something that helps you manage stress. It’s also important to maintain a positive mindset and use humor to lighten the mood when possible. Lastly, don’t isolate yourself—connect with others, share your experiences, and seek support.

What role do you believe attitude and positivity play in the process of overcoming cancer and other health-related challenges?

Attitude and positivity play a huge role in overcoming health-related challenges. A positive mindset can influence your overall well-being and resilience. It helps you stay hopeful and motivated, even in the face of adversity. Positivity doesn’t mean ignoring the difficulties but rather approaching them with a constructive attitude. It can be the difference between feeling overwhelmed and finding the strength to keep moving forward.

Can you share how the experience of battling cancer and overcoming adversity has shaped your outlook on the value of life and resilience?

Battling cancer taught me to cherish every moment and appreciate the simple joys in life. It reinforced the importance of resilience and the strength of the human spirit. Overcoming such a significant adversity has shown me that we are often stronger than we realize. It has made me more grateful for the life I have and more determined to make the most of it. This experience has been a powerful reminder of the value of perseverance and the beauty of life.
