Now I’m a bit of a book geek. Every time another one drops through the letterbox in its telltale brown cardboard packaging, my husband rolls his eyes, in a ‘how many more’ kinda way. I must agree that I have enough to keep me going for quite some time, but I don’t let that tiny little detail stop me.

My latest purchase has been a real surprise. I ordered STUCK, Brain Smart Insights for Coaches by Gill McKay for two reasons. First, the title intrigued me and second, I’m a coach, always on the lookout for new ways to help my clients.

However, the thing I liked most about this book is that it’s not just for coaches or the many other kinds of professionals trained to give people a helping hand. Anyone who is feeling stuck in their work and life can benefit – and there are a lot of people out there right now who feel this way. Gill uses her vast experience in neuroscience (she’s also a MD of MyBrain International don’t ya know) coupled with her skill as a coach and HR professional to take her readers through a journey of discovery into the human brain, its possibilities and wonder, together with its limitations and what happens when it gets sick.

Using real-life stories of people who were stuck in life and couldn’t move on, Gill unpicks the research to show us how to apply solutions in our everyday life that can help us to break free from whatever is weighing us down. Topics include dealing with stress, loneliness, lack of motivation, inability to make decisions and a negative mindset. Such an insightful book for anyone who wants to change and improve their lives.

The best bit? On Wednesday 18th of September 2019, you can get your hands on a Kindle version on Amazon for just 99p and Gill will donating all the profits from this promotion to Brain Research UK.

Of course, you don’t need to own a kindle. Download the app for your smartphone, tablet or computer and help raise money for this fantastic cause.

Gill McKay has written a humdinger of a useful book.
