When we’re in the 9–5 drudgery, and we are sooo bloody fed-up that we cannot stand it anymore, we often daydream.

We drift off and daydream about getting the hell outta there and becoming the true master of our destiny where we can really do whatever we want.

However we are not really really sure what we want.

We just gotta figure that out somehow.

This is how I was 5 years ago, I was so unhappy in my banking job that I could barely stand it — I had a tightness in my throat most days and tension in my neck and back as I forced myself through the day. Listening to bullshit and getting dragged into politics that had nothing to do with achieving the company’s goals.

I just kept thinking, I cannot go on like this — not for the rest of my life.

But what can I do? I didn’t know what to do!

In the end, I did what any sensible person would do and I went traveling for a year. I just upped sticks, quit my cushy job and went traveling. A good journey of discovering the world would do me good, I thought.

And it was fantastic, it was beautiful. I hiked the himalayas, walked down the great wall of china, had tea in Kyoto, bummed on the beach in Australia, sailed around Tahiti and explored South America. Wow, I was lucky.
But, at the end of the journey, I still hadn’t found what it was that I actually wanted to do in my life.

So I went back to the bank. Yup, I went back to working at the bank. Why?

Because I hadn’t bothered to connect to my Inner State to see what it is that really made me feel alive. I really thought I would “find myself” on this journey and come back with the answer to all the questions — to find my life purpose.

The thing is if you really want to find what it is that makes you tick, makes you feel fully alive, in the moment, just doing what you love. You ain’t gonna find it by searching outside of yourself.

The inside journey to yourself to find out what you would truly love to do and to ask yourself those deep questions of what your most satisfying destiny looks like is the most gratifying journey of all.

In the end, after 18 more months at the bank, I finally decided to work with someone who could help me to find the answers to all my questions — inside myself.

From there I created a clear, concrete plan with little baby steps to get me towards what it was that I really really wanted to do.

So if this sounds like you, are you are fed up to your back teeth with your current life, PLEASE take the time to connect with yourself to find out what it is that your deep heart’s desires are. By all means, still go traveling as it’s a fantastic experience, BUT don’t forget to do the inside journey as well.

If you would love some help with your journey, then I can work with you to go deeper into those questions to create the clarity and confidence you need to move forward.
