Nurses Forever

When you’re a nurse you’re a nurse all the way – taken from West Side Story with a twist. But, it’s true. It takes a special person to be a nurse. Caring is the first passion a nurse must have. Yes, passion. If you don’t believe you can care enough to help anyone and everyone that needs your help then, forget about nursing. Once you start nursing you do honestly believe that you are a nurse forever. You can’t think of doing anything else (if you do, leave nursing now).

We are a part of the front line – along with doctors and nursing assistants. Of course there are others that deserve appreciation: janitors, housekeepers and the sterilization workers. They are also part of our team. Without them we wouldn’t have clean rooms or sterilized instruments.

This is apparent now, in the time of Covid-19. Nurses are working until they just can’t anymore. They get a few hours of sleep then right back to it. Doctors do as well. Front line workers. We are doing this with a minimum of equipment available. But, we do it – with a risk of contracting the virus.

Most people couldn’t do this. They may have other essential jobs. But remember this is only a part of overcoming the virus. We are learning how to connect. Connect with family, friends and coworkers. Not physically, but perhaps through visually on Zoom or Skype. We see how we can do this – being home.

This connection is essential to getting rid of the virus. The Creator sent this to us for a reason – to show everyone how bestowing is much better than receiving. Helping each other. This should be a global goal. If we can show the Creator that we have a great connection, and we are bestowing and helping each other we will have done a goal that we were created for. We were all one. Our soul got shattered now we have small pieces of it in all of us. It’s our mission to get these pieces back together. Only through connection, love and bestowal.

I may have lost some readers after that paragraph but those that have stayed with me you have the feeling that I am right. We need you to help spread love of others. Be determined. Continue with that intention. It’s our only hope. If this virus doesn’t help the Creator will send us something else. Another pandemic? A war? A nuclear war? A holocaust? Is that what we want? I know I don’t.

Keep the faith. Keep that faith to go above reason. Even it doesn’t seem right keeping your faith in the Creator and you will do it.
