When was the last time you deeply trusted yourself?

Take a moment to consider this trust and what it offered you. What happened when you took action upon your trust?

Nothing truly begins or continues without trust. Where trust does not actually exist, all is temporary. Where trust lives, all else can flourish, grow, and expand.


As we settle into a new year together, we are asked to trust in the unique blend of our talents, presence, strategic action, universal guidance, and courageous practice. We are asked to take action while simultaneously opening our hands to what is truly meant for us.

When we try to control the outcome, the outcome controls us. The practice of trust is the willingness to show up, roll up our sleeves, do the work, look our fears in the eye, and release the rest.

Consider the following questions:

  • Do you often find yourself trusting a decision then immediately second-guessing it?
  • Do you postpone intuitively inevitable outcomes because you don’t trust yourself?
  • Do you resist authentic connection because you’ve been burned or betrayed before?
  • Do you dabble in things but seldom go all in — careers, relationships, activities, etc.?
  • Does trust land on your list of deeply courageous practices?

If you’re human, you probably answered yes to one or more of these questions. After all, we humans hold a deeply complex relationship to trust.

We’re always looking for the most comfortable way to trust ourselves. The kind of comfort where we don’t feel the sting of an outcome. But here’s the thing: trust doesn’t come with a net.

Sometimes we are called to trust ourselves even when the pieces do not yet fit. Sometimes we ignore trusting our gut because the situation feels tolerable and better than an unknown alternative. Sometimes the risk of trusting ourselves feels more daunting. Sometimes we’re just tapped out and too stressed to take a leap.

Our egos love to get in the way to ‘protect us’ and then we start overthinking. The practice of trust asks us to listen, to stay present to what is, and to step forward in faith and in service to our deepest and highest good.

Bring to your mind or heart a current situation asking for you to trust yourself. What is making you pause? What would happen if you chose to trust yourself and your own intuition?


What vision do you have for your life? What do you want to reach for but aren’t trusting yourself enough to step into the water? What do you know in your heart is right for you?

Our dreams and goals aren’t given to us to torment us, friends. They are given to us because they are blueprints — actual, unique blueprints entrusted to us to fulfill a purpose we may not even yet know.

  • To build any blueprint, we must trust in its purpose.
  • To bring any design to life, we must trust ourselves.
  • To stay open to our highest good, we must trust we are held.

This week, begin your own practice of courage by observing your trust patterns and putting to paper or smartphone what you learn. Knowing our patterns is an important first step to strengthening our trust practice.
