She helps bring the world closer in heartwarming Oscars campaign.
Here is the inside scoop on Grammy nominated recording artist Andra Day’s latest song, debuting at the 89th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Her self-proclaimed style is a whole new take on vintage. Her fashion style is inspiring as well, as it’s just as natural as her singing, especially when it comes to turning a vintage bandanna or frock into a refreshingly modern moment. Whether it’s a classic bandanna at a discount store or an Hermés scarve, Andra Day can make it look breathtaking.
The renowned jazz vocalist and song writer recently teamed up with Hyatt Hotels to re-imagine the timeless song, ‘What the World Needs Now Is Love.’ Listen to it here! Her sexy, funky and jazzy voice, which can change from a raspy falsetto to deep, powerful and rich belt has drawn comparisons to Adele, Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nina Simone and more. Andra Day collaborates with Hyatt as part of the hotel brand’s new marketing campaign, ‘For a World of Understanding,’ which is debuting its new global platform, World of Hyatt. This global ad campaign helps build and engage a community of travelers around the idea that we all share in a common humanity — no matter where in the world we may come from or go to visit.
As described by the Hyatt website as, ‘World of Hyatt is built on the simple idea that a little understanding goes a long way. Listening, noticing others, extending a meaningful gesture can make all the difference in helping you be your best. Understanding also inspires loyalty. Your new loyalty program connects you to the people, places and experiences at the heart of your world.’ Check out behind-the-scenes footage of Andra recording the song here.
Andra Day’s remake of Hal David and Burt Bacharach’s ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love’ for Hyatt Hotels’ World of Hyatt campaign and its videos were filmed in Morocco, Spain and Thailand. The beautiful video reveals how people of all ages, backgrounds, sizes, shapes and skin color can unite through real and simple human connections. This video is a must-see, because it will make your heart melt and give you goose bumps.

Hyatt puts empathy into action: World of Hyatt is collaborating with non-profits, Learning AFAR and No Barriers USA, to support a program designed to inspire transformational learning. Students who might not otherwise have the chance will be given a life-changing experience designed to help them better understand themselves and the world around them. World of Hyatt is supporting Chicago Public School students to participate in an immersive four to six month curriculum that teaches students how to overcome obstacles, live a life of purpose and give back to the world, culminating in a ten day excursion to Costa Rica. Students will explore the country’s unique culture to foster personal growth and leadership skills, enabling them to see what is possible in their lives and how they can contribute their best to the world. Upon return, students have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership as they share their learnings from this transformative expedition with their school and community.
