Our Voice is an International Cultural Movement of young people from different parts of the world open to all those who share our ideals.
We bring our messages into communities in many ways, in fact we are organized into theater and art companies. We have our very own film crews. We do radio broadcasts and meet in cultural centers.
We use every form of communication available to denounce the injustices which afflict today’s world. Things such as mafia, corruption, drug dealing, arms trafficking, pollution, poverty, and all types of violence. We believe all these problems to be tied by an invisible chain. They are connected and belong to a single criminal power.
By participating in demonstrations, protest marches and by traveling through schools, Our Voice supports debates to help youth become active by becoming up-standers of a message of hope and solidarity for society. We aim to help our peers discover and recognize their talents so they may use such gifts to help those in need, hence become aware of the moral values that lie within each and every one of us.
Our Voice operates within a Cultural Association called ‘’Falcone and Borsellino’’, we also collaborate with the online journal Antimafia2000.
The movement was born in 2014 in the Italian town of Sant’Elpidio a Mare in the Marche region.
It can now be found in many other Italian and foreign cities, such as: Udine in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Milan in Lombardy, Montevideo in Uruguay, Asuncion in Paraguay, Rosario, Salta, Ushuaia, Santa Cruz, and Campana in Argentina. Our Voice has had the honor of bringing its message to theaters, schools and squares all over the world. We attended the Italian Perugia-Assisi March for Peace in 2016 and in 2018 and marched alongside Don Ciotti, founder of the prominent anti-mafia association called ” Libera”.
Since 2014, every May 23rd we have participated in commemoration activities at the faculty of Law of the University of Palermo for Italian national hero, Judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and police officers killed in the line of duty.
Every July 19th we are in D’Amelio Street, in Palermo to commemorate yet another national hero, colleague and friend of Judge Givanni Falcone, Judge Paolo Borsellino and the five police officers killed in the line of duty, while trying to protect the Judge. We consider these to be primary appointments, as they represent a primary battle for Italian youth; the battle against mafia.
Judge Paolo Borsellino once said: ” If youth denies its consent, even the almighty and mysterious mafia will vanish like a nightmare” , “…as they (youth) are best suited to feel the beauty of the scent of freedom, a scent which allows us to refuse the stench of moral compromise, of indifference, of contiguity, thus of complicity”.
This message is our guiding light. With it in our hearts we become actors, musicians, artists and poets who travel to beautiful places inside and outside our homeland.
