Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. It’s a choice.
Well-being is a skill that can be developed to avoid suffering.
My goal with this monthly newsletter is to share with you the insights, ideas and inspiration I’m experimenting with or using to move beyond unnecessary suffering and out of this realm of excuses, fear and limited possibilities. We’ll address all aspects of wellness, so your mind, body, and soul are balanced and complete.
We’re after a life full of flow and focus. We’re after the deep understanding that you are, in fact, exactly where you are supposed to be at this exact moment in time. We’re after thinking, feeling and acting that is aligned with our values, goals and dreams. We’re after a life that we love, created by our very best self.
About Me:
If we haven’t met, well it’s nice to meet you. My name is Coach Jesse, and I’m once of the certified health and wellness coaches here at Ama La Vida. I’m so glad you are here!Last year, I set out on a trip around the world with no real plans of ever coming back. In fact, this time last year I was cleansing for a week-long ayahuasca retreat in the cloud forests of Costa Rica. It was an incredible experience, full of love and understanding about myself and about the world.
It was the perfect start to what ended up being a 10-month trip taking me from the jungles, beaches and mountains in Central and South America to the castles, colossal churches and cobblestone streets in Europe. From Bogota to Budapest I created peace and learned a lot about the absolute unlimited potential of the human experience.
I plan to share those lessons with you so let’s jump in.
Today’s Activity:
- Write down 3 of your all-time favorite memories. Think of times when life was great, and you were in a state of flow.
- Identify the top emotions that accompanied these incredible memories. Did you feel loved? Were you connected or confident? Were there deep feelings of satisfaction and purpose in your life? Write them down.
- Now, close your eyes and vividly imagine you are right back in that moment feeling the exact same feeling, doing the same thing, surrounded by the same people. If you can’t picture yourself there, still put the same look on your face and create the same intrinsic emotional response. Do it! Feel it! Love it!
- Repeat as needed.
- After a few minutes of reliving the best moments of your life, sit back and relax. How did it feel?
- Next, take some time to think about your ideal future. What does the best version of you look like? What does it feel like to be confident, strong, unstoppable? What dreams are you chasing? What steps must you take?
- Write down the 3 dreams, goals or upcoming action steps identified in step 6. They can be coming up next week, distant dreams or a combination of both. If you haven’t identified those things yet, get a coach, and then identify 3 feelings or emotions you will feel once you’ve acted upon and achieved those goals.
- For example, once I identified my biggest goals, I felt feelings of confidence, satisfaction, love, and purpose.
- Note: If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough. If you’re dreaming and unwilling to take action, that is called a wish. We do not grant wishes. Dreams come true when we combine clarity of purpose with persistent and determined action. Dreams come true when we know what we want, and we take action to get it.
- For example, once I identified my biggest goals, I felt feelings of confidence, satisfaction, love, and purpose.
- Close your eyes and live the future experience in your mind as if it had already unfolded before you. Create the blueprint in your head, feeling the feelings you’re after with the same look on your face as if you’ve already accomplished the task. Experience it as if it were happening now, or as if you’re reminiscing once again on a distant memory. Feel the feels.
- Repeat step 8 morning and night for the next 30 days.
- Enter a whole new world.
