A client said to me yesterday, Kevin, I can’t stop eating and I won’t lose weight because I have big bones, it’s the way I’ve been built, it’s in my genes. I said Gerry (not his real name) as Les Brown once said, “I’ve never seen a skeleton with big bones”
Perspective is tunnel vision, no matter what happens and what’s going on you only see a situation in a particular way. Many of us don’t act because we want other peoples approval, we lack self confidence or the fear of failure.
Listen to what you say to yourself, If you’re telling yourself that you can’t do it, then your right. But remember successful people don’t talk to themselves like that.
Personal Statements – decide, to decide to act.
What’s a personal statement?
A PS is a commitment to the thing that you’re not yet doing but you want to do.
For example, if you’re goal is to eat healthy or if you want to be consistent in giving gratitude and want to take control, your statement will go something like this;
‘I am healthy. I run 5 days a week, I start at 6 am and finish at 6.45am’
or
‘I am thankful. I express gratitude for 3 things, every morning when I wake up and before I go to bed.
It’s a statement of how you’re being and your action is clear, you’re in control.
No excuses.
Write down 3 personal statements for the goals you will take action on, when you have doubt your personal statements will drive you, when you listen to that voice that says you can’t, your personal statements will drive you.
Write them down and put them somewhere you can clearly see them. Say them out loud every morning and at night and build a routine.
Be consistent, there’s strength in your routine.
What is there that you know you need or want to do?
If you need any help in putting these together let me know.
Warmly,
Kevin
