After I read what happened in Charlottesville’s it angered me, I was disappointed with people and how this world is changing. I am a millennial in this world, and it upsets me to see us fight with one another; whether is in person or online. I have a very open heart and mind, where I love and respect everyone no matter who they are, However, this does not imply I accept bad behaviors from others. What I want and what I believe we all want is peace, rights, and equality.

Why is our world so full of hate and despair? I believe that all the discrimination and violence is out of fear. They don’t understand it or them, and they react with fear. We’re all similar and different. We clash because of our different ideologies. We refuse to accept or understand their view of their religion, culture, and race. Using your voice is our number one right in America, but if your opinions, beliefs, and ideals are not the same with that other person why must we hurt them? We care and worry too much about other people’s lives. You don’t have to agree with their religion, race, sexual orientation, ideas, and so on. It bewilders me. It leaves me an astonishment state where I can’t comprehend how the way this person lives, sees or does things is affecting you or harming you in any way. I don’t always agree with everyone, but I listen. That’s the problem, isn’t it? We’re all fighting and hating, but were not listening to one another. We only listen when something tragic happens; which is very sad. That is how our attention is gained, with violence, and that creates more fear and hate.

Why do bad things keep happening? I want to say Donald Trump’s fault. I want to say it’s all his fault for what’s going on in our world, but it has existed for a very long time. He’s indulging in people’s fears and hate. He wants us to tear each other down, and he wants to inflict fear for those who aren’t willing to see or listen to the views of others. If the past has taught us anything is that fear and hate don’t solve problems. We’re more evolved than this. I am certain you wouldn’t want your rights taken, I am confident that many of us don’t like when others believe our lifestyle and choices are wrong. There is no right or wrong way of seeing or doing things. I think we project our fears, insecurities, and judgment onto others. We need to demonstrate more understanding and tolerance to future generations. We need to be more positive. We want to promote peace and friendly relationships, so our world can be a better place.

Muslims, Jews, Mexicans, and others are being classified and labeled what type of people they are because of the past. In the past, it was this or that person, but it’s not everyone, and they should deserve the same treatment as all of us. Us fighting and hating one another is not moving forward nor making America Great again; it’s taking 50 giant steps backward. Where you can’t be yourself, be free, or have hope. We are supposed to be to known for freedom and hope. If we can’t represent that, then we should not be called the United States of America.

“If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can make the world safe for diversity.” Said by John F. Kennedy. This quote helps me prove what I am trying to convey. We all want peace and a safe world, so why must we all fight. Let’s stop the hate. Let’s end the violence. Let’s understand that we all want the same thing. Let’s go to a place where we’re all free from judgment, anger, fear, hate, differences, and let’s listen to one another. Truly listen. Let’s not attack each other physically or verbally. We pay attention, we understand, we agree, and then we mend. We come from diverse communities, and that will never change, but what can change is how we express ourselves. We learn to be better. We grow from this, and we tell future generations that everyone they meet one day is going to be different from them, and that is okay. We don’t all have to like or agree with one another. But where we can live free, diverse and as equals is a message I hope future generations carry with them. We can only hope that they are better than us. We don’t want our future generations to fear who they are. We want future generations to be proud of who they are and to accept themselves and not necessarily to welcome others, but to understand them, smile at them, tell them to have a good day, and then you keep moving forward.

Let’s remember the people who wanted the world to be a better place:

“I’m gonna make a change, for once in my life

It’s going to feel real good, gonna make a difference

Gonna make it right…” – Michael Jackson

“Our lives begin to end the day we are silent about the things that matter.” – Martin Luther King Jr

“ Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” – Abraham Lincoln

“ Wherever women gather together failure is impossible.” – Susan B Anthony

“ In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.” — Michael Jackson.

“I object to violence because when it appears to do good; the good is on temporarily; the evil it does is permanent.” – Gandhi
