I get it. It is socially accepted and almost even expected to be available all the time. So many people come to me and tell me how hard it is to switch off in their day to day life.

How do you recharge?

Is a few hours of yoga a week, or seeing friends for dinner, having the impact you want?

Two years ago, I took a trip and went completely offline.

It was a game changer.

I went on my first women’s retreat.

Not only was I taking a beak away from my day-to-day life, I was using that time to focus on myself.

By switching off, I was able to really switch on to what mattered to me.

Research shows that for so many of us, we experience more joy in anticipation of a vacation than we do actually on the vacation.


Because we still bring our every day stresses with us, we do not properly switch off, and we do not use the time to re-energize and refresh.

This is why, when I was approached by Ilaria, co-founder of Youga World, I was so excited to collaborate on creating Life Coaching retreats.

Planning a holiday itself can be exhausting and that is why I love their concept.

For five years I was going to join a women’s retreat. Then something came up. The time passed, I was stuck in indecision, I told myself I was too busy to take the time off, or even make the decision and book the trip!

Bottom line: I wasn’t prioritizing myself and my needs.

Often the people who need it the most are too busy to research, decide and book the vacation they need.
