Space IL is a non-profit organization founded by a multidisciplinary group of Israeli space enthusiasts to rival with privately-funded space teams in the Google Lunar X Prize. This prize is a global race of lunar exploration offering the most extensive international incentive prize of all time, $30 million. The challenge is to become the first group and team to successfully launch, fly, and land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon.

The team needs to operate the spacecraft across the lunar surface and transmit images, data, and videos back to the earth. Zohar Levkvitz chose to fund this noble task, but who exactly is Zohar?

Zohar At A Glance

Zohar Levkovitz became the chairman of SpaceIL. Besides, he founded Amobee and led this company through its recent acquisition by SingTel at $350M. This champion has been at the forefront of mobile and internet technology development for more than a decade. Formerly he was a CTO of Comverse 3G, MMS, and WAP Push activities. He also led the development and compilation of several architectures and concepts. Zohar has gained experience in the online advertising arena as a manager of Smartshopper.com and as a Vice President of product development at Hotbar.com inc. Space IL’s mission is to help Israel the third country to land on the Moon.

Zohar always wanted to know what it felt like going to the Moon. Here are a few reasons why the guru is spending a lot of time and effort in Space IL:

Increasing the Popularity of Israel

It is a fact that there is no better way to increase the popularity of Israel than to have Israeli people go to the Moon. It would take lots of courage and bravery for locals to volunteer to go there, in any case. Believe it or not, many people would step up to the challenge. Israel is known all over the world for a few things. However, this project would undoubtedly boost the country’s popularity to levels it would have never imagined.

The president of the country will undoubtedly be proud of Zohar Levkovitz if he were to accomplish this feat. It is undoubtedly a lot easier said than done to achieve it. You would need to assemble a team that is dedicated to what they do. They should concentrate on doing what they set out to do and not let any distractions get in the way.

Win the Google Lunar X Prize

A whopping $30 million will be given to the winner of the Google Lunar X Prize. The judges will choose the contestants who have the will and determination to go to the Moon. It is no surprise how you must have an excellent reason to go up there. You can’t just go there to find out if there is any life form since we already found that out with the first moon mission.

If Zohar Levkovitz wins this prize, it will not be just another one of his significant accomplishments. It will undoubtedly be one that he will remember for a very long time. He may even encourage his kids to want to be astronauts. It is an occupation that is pretty risky, but if you put your mind into it, then you can do it.

First Team to Fly a Robotic Spacecraft

The mission of Space IL is to have a group become the first team of experts to make a robotic spacecraft and fly to the Moon. The spaceship does not need to have humans in it. However, it would feel safer for the team on planet Earth if there was also someone there. We have seen past missions where one or two astronauts made the brave leap in doing it. What happened to them next will be something they will never forget. There were some experiences they certainly did not expect. Of course, they did not regret deciding to go to the Moon. It is something they will tell their grandchildren.

Time will only tell if Zohar Levkovitz will succeed with his mission to go to the Moon. When it does happen, he is going to be watching every second of the task. He will undoubtedly give a long pep talk to each person who will ride the spaceship. There are a lot of Israeli people who admire what Zohar Levkovitz has done in his career. Some of them would love to follow in his footsteps. For people to want to become a part of his team, Zohar knows he would have to offer a bunch of incentives. Through hard work, Zohar continues to achieve greater heights!
