Being thankful for what I have and where I am in life, had not always been appreciated. And most of the time I didn’t realize I was taking life for granted, until becoming a caregiver for both my aging parents up until they passed away.
Now understand, I have never been ungrateful, hateful or didn’t realize the importance of helping others. Helping others is one of my deepest passions. But sometimes life takes us on an unexpected trip where you have never been before, with no warning or caution signs. Even Will Robinson in “Lost In Space” had a robot that would warn him when approaching danger…saying, “DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER”!
When I feel as though I am wavering in my faith, I am reminded that “God is still faithful”.
The word of God tells us in Luke 16:10, that “Whoever can be trusted and faithful with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much..”
Have you been faithful over what you have and where you are at this point in your life? Or do you think you should be further? You probably should be further– but until we become faithful and content in the state that we are in…how can God move us beyond the point we have already reached? We have to be faithful where we are now.
Sometimes I have to remind myself of “how good God is” without this being an old cliché. You know…someone says, “God is Good All the Time”–and someone else says, “And All The Time God is Good!” I believe you get the gist of what I am saying.
This brings my attention to a few scriptures that remind me of how to be “Content Whatever the Circumstances”
“Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances”.( Phil. 4:11- AMP).
This scripture is true for all who believes in the Power of God’s word, and that God is the one that is truly guiding our steps. A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. (Prov. 16:9)
I have learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I am just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I have found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Wherever I am in life, whatever I have in life, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.
This does not mean that what others have done for me I do not appreciate — I do. It is a beautiful thing when someone comes alongside you in a time of trouble and a time to need.
But when there is no help…you have to be faithful over what you have, and where you are at that point in your life. I want God to say to me, “Well done, my good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:21)
In order to get to the next promise in life…It is important to be faithful where you are.
What are you doing with what you have, where you are planted in this season of your life in order to receive your next promise? You can grow where you are planted.
