Now that everyone is home, are you freaking out a little bit? Feeling overwhelmed by the lack of control of your space? No longer have clear lines between your home and work life?
Uncertainty can kick up a lot of fear and anxiety. I want to remind you that you control your thoughts. When fear, negativity, anxiety are constructing the thoughts you allow in, it lowers your frequency to stand in your truth to articulate what you need. When in crisis, or feeling like everything is uncertain and out of your control, I find levering these grounding activities to help you find certainty in yourself and raise up your creativity will help you get through these times with ease. Before we jump into the activities to incorporate into your daily routine, I want to share something about our reactive space that is worth noting.
If you sustain your energy in your Reactive Space, which in this case can show up as Controlling, Complying, and/or Protecting, you start to pull away from your Creative Space, which is Relating, Self-Awareness, Authenticity, and Achieving. This is how we define leadership effectiveness as The Leadership Circle 360 Practitioners, which I believe is relevant to note at this time for all of you to be aware of how often during the day you are leaning into your Reactive Space vs. your Creative Space. In order to feel more grounded in your daily activities, and have more certainty under today’s climate, leaning into your Creative space is highly effective.
Here are some tips to stay in your highest self, while navigating through uncertain times.
- Create a space in your home where you can center yourself daily, first thing in the AM. I personally converted a section of my home office into my Recharging Station to allow me to center myself and clear my mind. I took a chair from my living room, brought up some candles, pictures that make me smile, a plant or two and some energy crystals to help cleanse the energy around me.
- Block 20-30 minutes each day (preferably the AM) in your newly designed recharging space. For you, your space may be different, but the ritual should be the same. And if you have kids at home right now, have them do the same. Your habits matter for your mental well being.
- Schedule a daily time as a family where everyone goes to their respective spaces for 30 minutes, no gadgets and clears their mind. (If you fall asleep, that is ok, your body probably needed that as a way to decompress.)
- This block of time is to release any negative thoughts by leaning into gratitude and adoration for the life you are living. Yes, I said adoration. Even in stressful times, when you focus on what you love, how grateful you are, and everything you appreciate about it, negative energy is squashed to dust. Remember, you are in control of what your mind focuses on. Here are some phrases to repeat to yourself to kick off your positive thinking:
- I adore my life!
- I love my blessed life and am able to provide love and care for others, always.
- I am grateful for my life and the ability to breathe.
- I forgive everybody, I forgive everyone.
- I welcome the love and care of others and am so grateful for it.
- I am healthy. I am able. I trust that what I need to thrive will be provided.
- I am grateful for all that I am able to do, hear, see, and taste.
- If any of these sayings made your heart beat a little faster or make you smile, that is the one to repeat over and over again as you sit in peace.
- If you want better sleep, feel free to add another 20-30 minutes at night before bed in your grounding spot.
- Journal for about 10 minutes. As you are in your new energized state of being, ask for what you can do to serve, teach, share, connect or offer to help others through this time that will allow your gifts to shine. Journal for about 10 minutes and write out the answers that come to you.
- If you are feeling especially stuck in anxiety and fear, make sure to write out what you are most afraid of. Once you write that out, then ask yourself, “Is this statement true, right now? Is it happening right now?’ If the answer is No, then you have an opportunity to ask yourself, “What can I do to lean towards what I can control right now that will fill me up.”
- State what you are most grateful for at the end of each session, zip up that energy, and get ready for the day. Thank yourself for caring for you first today! We all benefit when you take care of YOU!
How you show up for yourself in the highest level of self-care right now matters. Being grounded during uncertain times allows you to stay in the present. That is what is needed most right now. It is basically the only thing you can always control. I hope this helps empower you to know you are in control and can focus forward in a more grounded way.
