A simple quote, a few words that when read together can hit you right in the heart. That, “YES!” moment that sends chills all over your body and you finally think, ”someone gets me!”
That simple little quote could change your whole life. That one moment of connection with someone else’s words can make you feel understood and like you are not alone.
Hoda Kotb, Host of Today and author of I Really Needed This Today: Words to Live By, a book she wrote about feedback she received from her Instagram fans whenever she posted quotes, says, “It’s so short, but all of a sudden it hits you in a space and way that you didn’t know it could…Often times you feel an emotion but can’t put it into words. Then all of a sudden you read eight words strung together and you say, ‘That’s it. That’s exactly what I’m feeling.”
Quotes aren’t just simple little life antidotes, they are real words making real connections. When a quote deeply resonates with you, you have to stop and wonder why. What is it saying about you and where you are in your life? What are those words making you feel?
Quotes can be real eye openers, even though a quote can spark reflection and awareness, it is not going to change your life without action. You need to ask yourself some questions and get to the answers, those answers can help spark real change.
Therapist and coach Jacqueline Socastro, L.C.S.W.-R, recommends asking yourself, “Why does this quote resonate so much with me? What value does this quote honor or support? How can I apply this to my life in a small, actionable way?”
SO, all that time you were scrolling Pinterest thinking and feeling while reading quote after quote, and quip after quip, you are really getting to know apart of yourself. Maybe you are looking for connection and growth. Whatever it is, pay attention to the “yes!” it could be the game changer you have been looking for.
What are some quotes that have really stuck with you?
