My passion and purpose is treating women because She matters and for too long She has felt like she doesn’t. From infertility to endometriosis, fibroids, painful menstrual cycles, overwhelming menopause symptoms, She has suffered and so has her womb. Society has dumbed her down, made her small, made her feel like She isn’t important. Well i’m here to tell you that you do, She does.
Being a female is the greatest blessing, do you know how clever we really are? We Make life, whether we choose to or not, we have the capabilities. On top of that, we feed life, our bodies are designed to give food to our young. How clever are we?! Our wombs are incredibly complex and magical, and sadly very misunderstood. Women’s bodies hold within them an incredible organ filled with sexual and creative power. It is time that we celebrated the astonishing capabilities and mysteries of the fantastic uterus! Every single human being that has ever been alive upon this planet, now and throughout all of history, has achieved this existence thanks to this very organ. Now that’s magic! We have all been intimately acquainted with the uterus, since the dawn of our lives, whether or not you have one personally within your own body.
THE WOMB – OUR POWER CENTRE
Just like our gut health is vitally important so is the health of our womb but in modern society our greatest tool has been neglected, shamed and abandoned. Our womb stores all our emotions, memories and magic so it’s only right that we honour it. Did you know, the uterus is an endangered organ. Hysterectomy (the removal of the uterus) is currently the #2 most common surgery performed in the United States. The #1 most common surgery in the US today is Cesarean birth, the cutting of the uterus to remove a baby. So if the womb is the holder of our emotions and well-being, what effect does this have on the health and mentality of a women when her most sacred part of her is being cut and at worst cut out. I’m aware that when you read this you might feel that sadness and pain, you may even experience cramps in your womb but once we have the awareness we can then bring the healing to it. Following two cesarean births, my first an emergency one, I understand the need for bringing love and light to this area of the female anatomy
WOMEN ARE CYCLICAL
Did you know, a women’s menstrual cycles and stages of life are intrinsically linked to the cycles of the Earth, Moon and Sun. The moon cycle is 29.5 days, and the average woman’s menstrual cycle is 29.5 days. Women whose cycles are closest to the 29.5 day cycle have higher rates of fertility.
In addition, there are 13 moon cycles in a calendar year, and the average age of menarche (a girl’s first menstruation) is age 13. The average age of menopause is 52, which is also the number of weeks in a year. There are an average of 4 weeks to a women’s menstrual cycle and 4 seasons in a year.
Women’s ancient menstrual calendars consisting of notches carved into bone or stone are said to be some of the earliest forms of calendars known. Women’s wombs hold a powerful connection to the astronomical cycles of the Earth, Sun and Moon. What?? Amazing eh?!
THE ‘P’ WORD
With the above in mind, how would it feel if we could rid ourselves of the shame that is attached to the various parts of our cyclical life? Let’s start with the menarche, our first period. Up until recently, and certainly through my school days, this was still quite faux pas and particularly with boys! She couldn’t go swimming, She couldn’t play sport, She was on the blob! Bloody hell! The reality is, at that point in a young ladies’ (maiden) life, she is making a massive transition from little girl to creator- the ability to creating life and feeding life. This transition should be wholly celebrated and respected. But it’s not, and that’s sad however we can change that. For every mum, auntie or friend reading this, let’s empower our inner child within ourselves and those little ones, let them know it’s ok, they can be proud of stepping in to their new phase and that this is about empowering them not shaming them.
How about we teach those girls who later become leading ladies to honour that part of the month. The current patriarchal society is conditioning us to be more masculine, to push through the period pains, to work like a dog for every part of our 29.5 day cycle but if we tuned into the different stages of our cycle we would be far more creative, productive and useful. For example, when we are ‘on’ we really should be ‘off’. It is a time of shedding, letting go, healing. A time for quiet contemplation, a ‘period’ to reflect on what that month we want to release, what emotions are now ready to be freed. In this time, a woman should slow down, take heed and nurture herself. When she comes out of this phase, having allowed nature to do what is needed (I like to think about it much like Winter and just like in Spring) She comes out more powerful, with greater ideas, fresh to take on the challenges, ready to bloom. During this next stage, She is at her most creative, has the ability to come up with great ideas, lay down new concepts ready for the Summer part. When She creates, releases and egg – the time when She is strong, fulfils challenges and can take on pretty much anything – you know that Wonder Woman feeling!? But like all highs we must come down, post Summer we head in to Autumn, we start to slow down, tune in and get ready for the Winter (our period). Boy, if only we all knew this eh? We wouldn’t be so hard on ourselves when we try to hit a deadline and muster up brilliant ideas every god damn day! Well now you can, and now you can teach your daughters, nieces, god daughters and friends that we are amazing, we are cyclical, we are magic and it’s time now to recognise our real power that lies within all of us and how we can harness it.
THE ‘M’ WORD
Just like when a woman hits the menopause. Oh that dreaded M word, oh come on girl, we are all going to get there and if we continue with the same rhetoric, it’s going to be miserable. So we’ve been the maiden, the creator, and then we transition to the crone. We are sold the idea that at this time, we’re dried up and good for nothing but how about we educate ourselves on they reality of this stage. It’s a time in a women’s life when she has all the power, the knowledge that she has accrued over the years. No wonder man dumbed her down, she is at her most potent! Apart from anything, She now knows who she wants in the bedroom and how she likes it! That’s enough to scare any man! I can hear you resisting the concept because in the back of your mind you’re thinking, ‘Well that’s all very well but what about the damn symptoms that comes with it?!’ I like to think of the hot flashes of the womb (the holder of all our memories and emotions) burning away all that no longer serves us, all those out of date thoughts, the limiting self-beliefs, She knows it’s time to let go of as they never worked for her in the first place. Did you know the womb started as the size of grape, as we grew it was approximately the size of walnut when we got to puberty, each month it grows to size of a grapefruit and returns to the walnut. As we carry a baby it multiplies but as we enter menopause the womb returns to its prepubescent size and in doing so it contracts, with hot flashes as all that lay dormant in their turns to ashes. The compression of the ashes, compact it to a lump of coal. Do you know what happens when a lump of coal is compressed? It turns in to a diamond – the strongest, most durable and most precious stone. How about that?! Our diamond years when we are sparkling, standing in our power for all to see.
THE ‘C’ WORD
Women possess an organ that is purely about pleasure – the clitoris’ sole purpose is to bring a woman pleasure. Not like the man’s parts that are multi- purpose. When a women orgasms, she experiences not just pleasurable and euphoric sensations, but waves of contracting muscles throughout the uterus, as well as the vagina and pelvic floor. The whole uterus has waves of muscular contractions which helps to facilitate the movement of sperm from the vagina into the uterus.
Some women also experience deep pleasure from their wombs during orgasm and say that relaxing and deepening into the feeling allows a whole body orgasmic release. Now that’s power!
It’s important to raise awareness today about the power, purpose and potential of the amazing woman and her amazing womb, so we can focus more energy on the health, vitality and preservation of this amazing female organ. Let’s tune into our pelvic cauldron of magic.
Perhaps if we tuned in to her, then perhaps there would be a lot less need for hormone altering contraception, cesarean births, hysterectomies, HRT and the pill. Let’s stop hurting her and instead focus on healing her. She deserves it, She matters and so do you.
