1. Dr. Haworth, at what age or what point you became inspire to help women facing childhood illnesses & trauma?

I was 19 years old. I was watching Oprah in the first season of her show. She had a series on sexual abuse survivors and revealed her own story of being raped as a child. I sat on my sofa weeping as I watched. My own history of abuse was up at the surface at that moment. As I wept this voice in my head loudly exclaimed; “You will be an expert on shows like this someday.” I was seriously freaked out when that came to me. I was already a psychology major in my second year of college at the time. I got up, picked up the phone and called the campus counseling center and made an appointment for therapy. It would be over a decade before I worked with abuse survivors. First, I had to heal myself.

2. Dr. Haworth, what is the time frame for a woman going from fear & illness to freedom & wellness with your method?

The initial period of healing is the first three months. Many changes will take place during that time so the process requires a full commitment on the part of the client. Many people go on to continue working with me past the initial three months. Clients usually feel like a new person within just a few months and desire more transformation so they continue. The work is profound!

3. Dr. Haworth, why do you think it is important to sleep 8 hours to have a balanced life? What do you recommend others to achieve a consistent sleeping schedule?

My sleep schedule is anything but consistent! I do, however, make sure I get 8-10 hours a night. It is rare that I allow myself to have less than that but it does happen for various reasons. Sleep is food, I believe. It is the time of day that our bodies repair and rejuvenate themselves. Having said that, sleep is an individual thing. Some people tend to require less of it than others. It is similar to diet in this way. Not everything works for everyone all the time.

You have to find what works for you with your schedule. If you can get to bed at the same time each night, great! But, that is not the case when you’ve got worries, hormones, noise, events, kids, or travel schedules keeping you up. Change is a constant when it comes to sleep. Your body will tell you if you’re not getting enough of it in a myriad of ways from being overtired to feeling cloudy headed. Obviously, there are many factors that can contribute to those problems. The key is in finding what best works for you to get as much deep, rejuvenating sleep as possible.
