Sometime or another we all have talked about or participated in physical diets. Looking at the various plans on how to lose weight quickly. However, if we are too busy, we blindly grab whatever is available. Grab and Go.
This is how we sometimes approach the word of God. No particular order, like a convenience store. Pick and Go!
These plans can only be effective, as long as there is a willingness to follow their protocol.
Our bodies require a nutritionally balanced diet, in order to stay physically healthy. Spiritually, the same discipline should be taken when embarking on a Scripture Based Wellness Program.
Physically, losing weight is the ultimate goal. Spiritually, the ultimate goal is to maintain and build a healthy relationship with God, others and self.
A diet for a physical body has a meal plan or system. Following a physical plan helps to keep the weight on track.
The same goes for the spiritual body we must follow a systematic reading plan. The beautiful thing about a Scripture Based Wellness Program, we can feed off the word in large quantities, with no guilt. If there happens to be weight gain, spiritually the wisdom you are learning is not being shared with others. Please be sure to encourage and share this program, don’t keep it to yourself!
Just like a physical diet with a Scripture Based Wellness Program it is not wise to neglect the plan or system for a length of time.
Physically, you will possibly start to gain some of the weight back. Spiritually, you will lose focus on your reading and studying of God’s word. Hence losing your spiritual connection and relationship with God.
Although there are various scripture-based wellness programs, we are going to focus on the Fruit of the Spirit Scripture Based Wellness Program (Galatians 5:22-23). A program that I am all so familiar with. This plan will help you reflect on how to display the characteristics of God. Which will help lead to becoming Spiritually Healthy.
This daily plan is broken into 9 small meals/scriptures. You will be spiritually fed when you read and study scripture for each meal.
Love – John 13:34
Without love, the gifts of the Spirit are deemed worthless, making the Fruit of the Spirit- Scripture Based Wellness Program incomplete.
Joy – James 1:4
Having joy enables you to enjoy all that God has given, your family, friends, opportunities, and salvation.
Peace – Philippians 4:7
When the peace of God is present, it will help to live holy and will help with protection from evil forces.
Longsuffering – 1 Corinthians 13:4
Walking in the Spirit will help to develop an attitude of longsuffering. When having this attitude; there is no circumstance that can destroy and patience no person can defeat.
Kindness– Ephesians 4:32
God wants us to be kind to one another. This kindness should be displayed even in midst of trials. As a fruit of the Holy Spirit, kindness is a virtue to be added to faith. This fruit of the Spirit is not a natural human reaction and must be developed in the believer, in order to minister or serves others.
Gentleness– Colossians 3:12
Having gentleness is a quality of heart. This quality is precious to God and is a Fruit of the Spirit necessary to live godly, being kind to and serving others. Gentleness should be worn like a garment.
Goodness – 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
True goodness is hard to attain. Goodness is a natural result of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, and kindness at work in a person’s life. This is evident upon a life that is totally committed to the Lord.
Faithfulness – Lamentations 3:22-23
Having faithfulness is to fully trust God, no matter the circumstances. Having faithfulness to self, results from being faithful to God and others. You must be dependable and committed, just as God is faithful and committed to us. These are very key expressions of being faithful to others through love and service.
Temperance/Self Control – 2 Timothy 1:7
Without self-control, there will be little opportunity to receive or experience fully the blessings of God.
While partaking in this plan, you will begin to build your relationship with God, others and yourself. You will develop a love that is unselfish, a joy that is true, and a peace that is everlasting.
You will be challenged to reflect God’s patience, kindness and goodness as you build your relationships with others.
You will discover inner strength as you grow and mature spiritually. Having this inner strength will result in faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
You will need to feed on all 9 meal plans in order for this Fruit of the Spirit -Scripture Based Wellness Program to be effective.
Just like a physical diet, the Fruit of the Spirit-Scripture Based Wellness Program will take a lot of Commitment and Spiritual Discipline.
I have been following and committed to the Fruit of the Spirit Scripture- Based Wellness Program for a while. This program has helped me discover and develop my Spiritual Gifts, Talents and Abilities as well as knowing, activating and executing my God given purpose. Hence, building my relationship with God, while making a positive impact in my life and the lives of others.
Just like any diet/program, it is an ongoing process that you must continue to follow if you want to see effective and positive results.
