I really wanted to title this post, “Live your fucking life”, but I thought that some may be offended by the use of the word fuck.
I use it here, only for dramatic effect in an effort to call you from the stupor of living a life less than ordinary. A life you think you need to live because it placates those you consider to be closest to you. I use it to say, more or less, wake the fuck up.
I think most of us can agree we’ve all got one shot at this life. Yeah, yeah there are those among us that believe in reincarnation. But for this go round, you’ve got one shot with no clue about how long that shot is going to last. That in an of itself leaves you with a choice.
Choice one: Live the life of your dreams to the fullest. Squeeze every drop out of every moment. Realize that the same universe that birthed you will bring to you a kindred spirit to share this life with. And if you are called to be alone on this journey, when you are true to yourself, awake in your own skin, you realize that loneliness adds to life and peaks the senses like nothing else. Either way, you choose to live life on your fucking terms unfettered by the naysayers.
“Not how long, but how well you lived is the main thing.” Seneca
Choice two: Live a life of “quiet desperation” constantly settling for what others have imagined for you. The main goal in this life is simply to stay alive. To keep getting up every day and do the work because it’s all you know. In this life emptiness is your constant companion. Surrounded by a myriad of people and yet alone. This is a pathetic life.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Steve Jobs
If you want to get the most out of life. If you want to make a difference. If you want to find, or keep, your soul mate. Wake the fuck up and choose. When you do, some will jump off the ship. But you’ll find that at the same harbor, others will climb on board. At the end of the day, you’ll be surrounded by the right ones. And interestingly enough, so will they.
We’ve all got one shot at this life. One shot with no clue about how long that shot is going to last. That in an of itself leaves you with an amazing choice.
