Life is stressful, whoever says otherwise is lying to your face. Things happen; money, jobs, kids, family: everything! How you handle this stress is truly how your life will be. If you choose to handle this stress poorly, your life will be a miserable existence. If you choose to handle your stress in a positive way, then life will be a little a lot better, even in those stressful situations. Here are five ways to react positively to stress:

Always think positively: Remember when I said you’re going to hear this word a lot in my blogs? Well, I wasn’t lying. I know that some situations are very, very stressful. However, if you can find the positive in anything, then trust me your life will go a lot more smoothly. In fact, according to Dr. David Hamilton, a contributor at Huffington Post, “a host of exciting research has shown that attitude affects our health — so much so, in fact, that a positive attitude can add years to our lives.” That is amazing. No medicine, no exercise, just a positive attitude can affect our lives in a great way.

Meditation: Ouuuoooommm. Yes, this simple act of self relaxation can really help you navigate a stressful world or situation a little better. By meditating once a day, in the morning or at night, even for 3 minutes a day, can clear your mind, and for those three minutes, you are stress free. STRESS FREE, how awesome is that? Basically, when you meditate, you clear your mind. You don’t think about anything, and for a minute you might even feel weightless. This is why people have reported levitation before. However, we won’t go into that ;).

Exercise: It’s no secret the more you exercise, the better your life is. Boy, a good walk or run can really clear your mind if you have a stressful life, or are dealing with a hectic situation. It is good for anyone! So much so, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, “Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins—chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers—and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.” I won’t sit here and bore you with the facts, when you’re done reading this blog, get out and go walk, run, jog (people make fun of the way I say jog… “Joug lol). Oh, and don’t forget to walk your dog too!

Love: Amore! Yes, love is a great way of reducing stress. Having that one person to come home to, to talk to, to hug and to hold can really help in a stressful situation. Everyday Health suggests that, “Love has a particularly welcome role in stress relief. Loving relationships can help relieve stress and boost your overall health.” This is straight from the mouth of Dr. Lindsey Marcellin. If a doctor is saying it, it must be true. Having someone who loves you, and who you love, will always help with stress relief.

Writing: Did you know that writing is one of the most therapeutic techniques out there, for any situation? In fact, every therapist recommends writing your feelings down. If you lead a stressful life, are going through a bad time, or just feel overwhelmed; then you need to write it down. It helps SO MUCH. When you put it out there in the universe, you can get it off of your shoulders. Getting some negative, or stressful thoughts off your shoulders and out of your mind can improve your mental health, and your ability to sleep. I know, writing can do a lot for you.
