In my school days, I can remember wracking my little brain to bust out a 2 page, double spaced,12 font paper. All I could think of was the act of completing the thing and making sure I reached the 5 paragraphs that was so kindly asked of me. At one point, it dawned on me that back then, I was never really present when it came to expressing myself in the written word. Somehow I missed the reflection part – the stage of the process that leads to the sensitive feeling you get at the height of your emotions, when the mantra: “anything is possible” keeps you pushing as time goes by. I have a sense that I’m evolving because I’m starting to feel that excitement.

Free Writing Has Taken On A New Life

Since then, I’ve seen the glow of writing. This appreciation I have lies within learning what’s important – what one should write, journal, scribble, doodle, scrabble, or jot – which is whatever it is that helps an individual release – the words that naturally comes his/her way.

Putting Words Down To Depict Our Inner Life

The rhythm of free writing has become quit resourceful. I’ve become a “notesy” type – a collector of thoughts, ideas, word plays, themes, article references, reading and music reviews, for some time (aren’t we all in an era that thankfully supports our curiosity, satisfying our desire and need to learn) all of which stimulates the mind. Writing is simply a way of sorting through the information and thoughts swirling around in our heads to reveal our most inner worlds.

Finding/Nurturing Our Creative Side & Running With It!

As we become use to tuning In – checking into our inner selves on a regular basis, we slowly let go of the pressure that can make self expression feel tedious and mundane. Holding on to free flowing material can also provide assistance for future projects in the works.

Richard Branson once said: “However you do it, take note: if you don’t take notes, your ideas will get lost”.

You will notice that when you maintain an active, fun, enlightened, engaged, and a light hearted, fun spirited mind, you will attract sparks of concepts and themes without even trying. As creatives, we often create our own narratives and workings of art by tracking down our thoughts – finding patterns in those thoughts, and revisiting the stash (past records), to make sense of our journey and purpose.

Peace At Last

I would encourage anyone wishing to not only – add more passion projects/leisure activities to their roster- hone in on skills for work/businesses purposes, but those looking to release the expectations that comes with the chaos and stress of every day life, to make room for peace, therapy, reflections, and self revelations through free writing and journaling. This will ultimately assist you in keeping your emotions in check. The influences and life practices you let into your life become apart of you: your surroundings and your energy. Now is the time to connect to the spirits that bring you closer to your thoughts, your identity, and your peace of mind!
