Heightened morale and motivation have been observed to critical aspects that determine the desire and self-will of employees to be productive at a given endeavor or workplace. Motivation refers to an enchanted spirit by individuals to realize the various goals, duties, and responsibilities that are expected from them by the management or supervisors. When employees are highly motivated, productivity increases and this increases the likelihood of various institutional goals and objectives to be achieved. As an employee, there are several strategies that can be developed or implemented by the employer that could increase the level of my motivation. These strategies are often expensive and time-consuming; however, the employer would reap the benefits through increased productivity and performance at the workplace. The management thereby needs to develop several strategies that could help motivate employees as discussed below.

The first strategy that could increase my motivation is having numerous opportunities for growth and development at the workplace. When an employee knows that they could be rewarded through increased opportunities, they are willing to meet the various expectations that the management has. A major opportunity for growth is through promotions. When the management promotes from within instead of recruiting new employees to fill the vacant positions that arise, the employees may be willing to out-perform the set standards so that they can occupy such positions. Promotions mean that there is higher remuneration and enhanced status for the employee within the workplace (Bolton, 2015). Another strategy for growth and development is through offering vocational training and development to the employees. Vocational training is where the employer allows employees to undergo training in various skills when they are still at the institution.

Such training is aimed at increasing the skill-level of the employees while at the same time allowing them to properly undertake the tasks that they are supposed to accomplish with ease. Such training and development could also help me develop my career as these skills would in the future be very important for my career development. Development of employees can also take the form of participating in various trade shows and exhibitions. Such exhibitions could be a great platform through which employees learn about certain trends that dominate the industry at a given moment. Increased understanding of the industrial trends would help increase the performance of employees since it could expand their knowledge-base and this could be translated into higher productivity over time. These exhibitions could also be a great platform through which employees could develop networks with other industrial partners over the future of their careers.

Another strategy that could be adopted that could increase my motivation is through fair remuneration, enhanced benefits, and bonus systems by the human resource function at the institution. Many employees are motivated when they are paid generously. Generous remuneration packages also help reduce the employee turnover rate and this can be translated to decreased selection and recruitment costs at the institution (Banks, 2013). The employer can also offer benefits such as medical covers for the employees to increase their motivation. When such benefits are offered, there is a high likelihood that the firm would also attract the best talent in the market thereby creating sustainability for the various operations and activities of the institution. However, when such benefits and fair remuneration is not given to employees, the motivation level would decrease and this could be reflected through decreased productivity and performance of the employees.

The management or employer can also increase the level of motivation through making the various expectations and instructions clear. The main reason there are disruptions at the workplace and losses is due to inability by employees to understand what is expected of them by the management. Making such instructions and expectations clear can be achieved through proper or effective communication across the whole institution. The employer needs to ensure that all communication channels are clear so that messages and communications are not distorted as they are being relayed to the employees. The employer should also provide constant feedback to employees if they wish to improve their performance, such feedback can be in the form of appraisals of the work done and what needs to be accomplished in the future.

An employer can also increase the level of my motivation through making all targets achievable. The main reason employees suffer from burnout at the workplace is due to set goals that are unrealistic or unachievable by the workforce. When this happens, employees are forced to work overtime without the realization that such an aspect can only be detrimental to the organizational or strategic goals. The employer can also show genuine concern about the interests and needs of the employees. Such concern needs to be genuine since it makes employees feel cherished and desired across the institution regardless of the roles they play at the workplace. These strategies can be applicable in any place of work if appropriately implemented. The management must research on what the employees most desire before coming up with a strategy that is meant to elevate their motivation. click here for more information
