Being promoted often comes with a significant increase in responsibility. But it’s important to keep in mind that there’s real value in leading together with your team understanding that you don’t have to be perfect, and acknowledging that you’re not in it alone.

A member of the Thrive Global community shares how she came to this realization:

“When I was promoted, the biggest thing I learned was not to expect too much from myself. I thought I needed to know everything off the bat, but I didn’t. My team loved being on the journey with me, and the lessons we learned together made us stronger as a unit. So my advice is to sit back, watch your new team, and learn about them before you attempt to ‘put your mark on them.’ Don’t change things for change’s sake. Sometimes just being there is change enough, and with fresh eyes and perspectives, that can sometimes be enough to start with.”
