You must have heard that first impressions are important. Yes, whether it’s for dating , doing business, or pursuing other social relationships, first impressions are often the key to the success of those relationships.
When we go to a networking event, or a job interview, or a presentation to potential investors, if you don’t get a good first impression, everything else is meaningless.
In the past 25 years of my management career, I have specially selected hundreds of people to join our team, likewise lately I have often been asked to sit on various selection committees for the leadership of various institutions. In almost all interviews, face-to-face or via video conference, in the first 5 minutes of the meeting I always had a certain impression that greatly influenced the assessment.
It turned out that I was not alone. Studies show that most people decide what they think of us in less than 4 minutes of meeting time.
Making a good first impression is very important in building relationships with other people. In business networking, a positive first impression is an important start in building a mutually beneficial long-term relationship, which will help the business and make it successful. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of the importance of this first impression.
