Did you know that 1 out of 4 men under the age of 50 are experiencing erectile health issues? Meet REVACTIN, a new supplement that centers itself around the belief that strong sexual health is key to living a fulfilling, experience-rich life. So, what exactly is REVACTIN? REVACTIN is a nutraceutical daily supplement designed to support healthy erectile function in men of any age. What makes it like any other product on the market? It’s a natural lifestyle enhancer backed by science, not a one-time quick-fix. The formula uses just four natural ingredients – ginger root, muira puama, Paullinia cupana, and L-citrulline.
We had the opportunity to chat with CEO and interventional cardiologist, Dr. Lara Oboler of REVACTIN to learn more about the new supplement and her inspirations behind bringing it to life!
As an interventional cardiologist, what encouraged you to branch off and start your own businesses? What was your inspiration behind starting REVACTIN?
LO: For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to follow my father’s footsteps and become an interventional cardiologist. I feel extremely lucky and fortunate to have realized that dream because it is just as fulfilling as I had hoped.
When I turned 35, I became a partner at my practice and was firmly established in my career. I was ready to start a family, but the problem was that I couldn’t get pregnant. To make a very long story short – I figured out what I needed to get pregnant… it was something called a mucolytic.
After figuring out this solution on my own, I decided I wanted to help other women. That was the beginning of my first company, PregPrep. There are 6 PregPrep products that support a woman’s fertility and help couples conceive. All products are currently sold nationwide in 17,000 stores including CVS, Walgreens and Amazon.
After the success of PregPrep, I had multiple doctors reach out to me for help with getting their ideas “from their heads to the shelves”. While I was always open to helping in any way possible, I was not interested in partnering with any of them to launch their companies – until I met Dr. Jacob Rajfer.
Dr. Rajfer is a professor of Urology at UCLA and did a pivotal piece of research that led to the creation Viagra. He has published hundreds of research articles in peer review journals, has spoken at dozens of National Urologic conferences, and has written numerous chapters in Urology textbooks. He came to me with several scientific preclinical studies on REVACTIN,and after he presented his incredible data to me, I knew that I had to be a part of this revolutionary product.
Why is REVACTIN a game changer in the men’s health/erectile health market?
LO: Pre-clinical studies show that REVACTIN induces an enzyme called iNOs within the smooth muscle cells of the penis to maintain healthy erectile tissue. The study also explains that REVACTIN has been proven safe – which is obviously very important.
What has your experience as a woman in a male-dominated industry been like?
LO: Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is empowering! It never occurred to me that there was something I couldn’t do because I was a female. I grew up going to an all girls’ school where the president of the class, the captain of the basketball team and the valedictorian were all female. In college, I was 1 of 2 female math majors. When I started working, I was the only female Interventional Cardiologist in Washington DC. (Currently, I’m the only female coach in my son’s flag football league). Being a CEO in a male dominated industry really doesn’t faze me.
Why do you believe younger men/ millennials should take REVACTIN at an early age?
LO: Smooth muscle cells (in the penis) start to die off and turn into fibrous tissue (becoming stiff) in most men by the time they reach 30. That’s not a disease state, it’s just natural aging. Imagine a brand-new sponge that is able to soak up water. As it ages, it becomes stiff and it becomes harder to absorb water. That is essentially what happens to erectile tissue as we age. REVACTIN helps slow or possibly prevent those smooth muscle cells from becoming fibrous. If men are interested in supporting their erectile tissue, it’s always better to start sooner rather than later.
Are there steps younger men can take to prevent future erectile health issues?
LO: Of course! Overall wellness includes sexual wellness. Keeping in shape with exercise and a low-fat nutritious diet is also essential.
Do you believe sexual health has been considered unconventional to talk about?
LO: There definitely is a stigma behind talking about sexual health. As a doctor, it’s unclear to me why. Sexual health is a natural and important part of life. If it was spoken about more freely, I believe people would be better informed. People like Dr. Ruth Westheimer really helped revolutionize the discussion. I also hope to take away some of the stigma behind it and move the conversation more into everyday discussion.
It can be overwhelming to start your wellness routine…can you discuss the benefits of taking a daily supplement like REVACTIN?
LO: Wellness should be a way of life. A good diet, exercise and supplements such as REVACTIN that can support sexual health should be part of your wellness routine. At the moment, wellness is such a buzzy term, and there are so many products on the market to choose from.
REVACTIN is the first of its kind and fits into one’s exercise, diet and supplement routine effortlessly. The benefits of taking a daily supplement like REVACTIN are endless- not only are you supporting the systems in your body now, but you’re setting them up to be strong for the future.
What is next for REVACTIN?
LO: Dr. Rajfer and his team are continuing to study the benefits of REVACTIN. There are two journal articles that will be published within the next few months. They will continue to conduct and publish studies and present at medical conferences to help spread awareness of this amazing product!
