When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Suze Orman: Actually, before I get out of bed I always make sure to recite the following prayer that is from my meditation teacher: “May the sunrise of supreme bliss shimmer in every particle of the universe. So why not drink a fresh cup of joy every day and become inspired with new perceptions? Remember, love and respect must be renewed with each dawn.”

TG: What gives you energy?
SO: The sun. The sea. Being silent. Helping people. Watching the sunrise and the sunset.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?SO: It sleeps next to me. I love to listen to CNN or MSNBC via Sirius XM right before I go to bed via my iPhone headphones. In the morning I always reach for it simply to see what time it is.

TG: How do you deal with email?
SO: I answer it as soon as I receive an email. However, I never take my phone into a restaurant. It is never at our dinner table.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?SO: My day is not like that. If I have too much on my plate I just get a bigger plate. I make the most out of every moment so no moment is extra. They all are great.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
SO: So long ago I can’t even remember.

TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
SO: The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep barking.
