Identify moments of micro-rest, which can be as short as one minute, and use them more effectively by stretching or practicing deep breathing. Studies have shown that slowing down to breathe deeply relieves stress and gives us energy.

How to do it

  • Have a free minute in between meetings? Rather than refresh your inbox again (what tasks will you actually accomplish in a minute?), slowly inhale and exhale for equal counts.
  • If you’re heads down on a project, set a timer to take 60 seconds every 60 minutes to stretch, walk around the office, or even do some jumping jacks to increase your heartrate.
