If you’re wondering what is the best spiritual book to read now what could be better than a book book written by or about a currently living master?   After all there is plenty of time to read books by or about those who are no longer living. Here are 3 of the best to read right now.

Encounter the Enlightened

This is a great book to start with and I wish I’d read it years ago. Encounter the Enlightened was published in 2001 and I have to say it is possibly the best of the books I’ve read so far with regard to the living master, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Within the generous 304 pages, Sadhguru answers many fundamental questions. Spiritual seekers may benefit from reading Sadhguru’s earlier books like this one first. Encounter the Enlightened even includes a glossary of spiritual, sanskrit and yogic terms which could be handy for spiritual seekers from the west navigating this new territory.

Midnights with the Mystic

“Midnights with the Mystic” is an account of an American realtor who spent a week with Sadhguru at her lakeside holiday home in North Carolina. As such it’s a down to earth introduction to Sadhguru for westerners because the writer, Cheryl Simone, has a knack for making readers feel like they are right beside her for every step of this sometimes hair-raising ride. What an deliciously incredible experience! I didn’t want the book to end. This is a great book to share with friends and family who are new to Sadhguru or spirituality.

Mystics Musings

“Mystics Musings” is different to any book you may ever come into contact with. “Mystics Musings” is described on the isha.sadhguru.org website as a “powerful yantra” and readers are instructed to treat the book with reverence. You can read about its properties by clicking here. I had some inexplicable mystical experiences whilst reading various sections of this book and would encourage serious spiritual seekers to scope it out for themselves.

Sadhguru – More than a life

Who is Sadhguru? If you’re intrigued by how Sadhguru became enlightened and want to know more about his life then you may enjoy reading “Sadhguru – More than a life”. His biography was written by highly acclaimed writer, poet and artist, Arundhathi Subramaniam, who was priviledged enough to spend much time in conversation with this modern mystic.

Have you read any of these or have some other books you have read and enjoyed?
