Being a parent is hard, we all know that. Being a parent in this technology era with three is even more challenging (at least for me). I am constantly trying to find the time for each child, letting them feel special and enjoy that one on one time with mom — without any screen involved.

Thankfully I discovered The Color Run.

5 kilometers of running (or walking) in a sea of colors. Sounds messy but trust me it’s amazing!

I cannot take credit on the idea as my daughter heard about it and asked to do it -I’m so happy that we did.

Life is all about making memories — today we made plenty.

We started with signing up online and joining the school’s team! You don’t have to join a team but it’s always fun to be part of a group.

We prepared a plan for training, as you cannot just get up on morning and run 5K.

The preparations and the training were our quality time together. Mother daughter one on one.

Getting our things ready

The week before we got all the gear, and started to prepare our accessories.
it’s a COLOR run so we need to be colorful. The shirt is white but who said the rest should be white as well? We got or rainbow tutu, tie die bandanna (to cover our mouth when you get filled with color), and of course- the night before we decorated our numbers.

The morning of, was the first time in forever I didn’t have to throw her out of bed as she was up at 6AM.
breakfast, sunscreen and off we go to start the race.

We made it on time to Met Life Stadium, that was all rainbow and ready for the run. You can feel the excitement building up in the air, dancing and the the countdown and before you know it, we are running on the Mets field. The 1st kilometer inside the stadium.

The rest out at the parking lot, each section different color, finishing with bubbles (kind of a car wash but with the opposite end result), and then a huge color party.

We made some wonderful memories and had a great bonding experience. This will become our annual thing moving forward.

In the meantime, we need to find our next thing — any ideas?
