Your business is your passion and if you’re not careful, your health can be compromised. With these 10 simple strategies, you can stay energised, healthy and have a bigger impact while increasing your bottom line.

1.Draft a draft a blueprint for success

The first step in creating a successful business is drafting a blueprint for success. The business plan helps you build the business step by step and also serves as a measuring device to see if you are on track. The same approach should be taken with your weight loss, healthy living plan, but unfortunately most entrepreneurs ignore this component of success

PUT the same level of effort into YOU as you put into your business.  When creating your plan, be realistic. Profits don’t come overnight nor does staying energised and healthy.  Your business won’t double in a week and you won’t go from the couch to the finish line of a 5K a week.  Be patient and success will come as long as you keep plugging away

2. Know what you don’t know

The most successful entrepreneurs admit they need help. They are smart and they’re really afraid to hire experts to help them take their business to the next level. The best advice I was given when I started my business was hire the best mentor I could not afford and that’s exactly what I did. My coaches have accelerated my success in ways I never imagined.

Optimising your performance with healthy living can get complicated because every week there is a new research study that contradicts the last one.  Take optimising performance and WELLthy living back to basics and keep it really simple.  My clients start slowly by incorporating one new habit at a time. With this approach you’ll boost your energy, feel great and look amazing before you know it.

3. Schedule yourself like a client

Being an entrepreneur requires that you wear multiple hats and constantly run from appointment to appointment. As your business grows, you become more and more effective in scheduling your day to fit in client appointments and money-generating activities.  And if you had to “manufacture “30 minutes to fit in a £1,000 an hour client, I know I would do everything possible to make it happen.

You are every bit as important as your high-paying clients, but unless you treat yourself that way, you’ll never have time for healthy living or fun.   In our time blocking exercises, we teach our clients how to maximize their time in order to fit in exercise, fun time, meal planning, etc.   As you’re creating your weekly schedule, be sure to pen yourself into your day.  For maximum success, start your morning with 30 minutes “me time”.

4. Don’t ever expect perfection

Successful entrepreneurs are risk takers that aren’t afraid of failing. They understand that getting the business started is more important than getting it perfect. They accepted that their best is good enough, and they give it their all even when they know an A+ isn’t possible. Why? Because if they wait for everything to be perfect, they’ll never take the giant leap and there’ll be left disappointed that they didn’t take the action

Going for perfection and living by the all or nothing attitude will guarantee failure in every single time, when it comes to healthy living and weight loss. You don’t have to be, you don’t have to follow a perfect diet to lose weight and live super healthy. If 80% of your choices are healthy, then you have room for the 20% not so healthy treats. Yes, you can have your cake and feel good, too.  Life is too short to give up the wine and chocolate, so don’t even try.

5. Plan your meals like a meeting

Being an entrepreneur is hard as hell. Planning for your very important meetings is crucial to your success. You wouldn’t go into potential billion-dollar meeting with our preparation, planning, rehearsal and a vision of the desired outcome.  And you wouldn’t try and run your business without systems in place to collect all your creative ideas so you don’t forget so you don’t forget about them when the next one pops into your head.

My clients are busy running their businesses are too busy running their businesses to create meal plans, find recipes, and do the research to learn what to eat.  That’s why I provide quick and delicious recipes. I teach my clients how to maximise go-to-meals and leverage easy prep so there is always something ready in a matter of minutes.   This prevents them from making unhealthy choices and allows them to optimise their brainpower, boost energy levels and plan their indulgences around celebrations and dinners out with clients.

6. Sleep your way to success

How many times have you heard an entrepreneur brag about only needing four hours sleep? Lack of sleep is not a badge of honour that should be worn with pride. Entrepreneurs know how to succeed.   Many of them have slept their way to success!  These smart entrepreneurs realize it’s not how long you’re awake, that’s important, it’s what you do with your waking hours that really counts.

Among entrepreneurs, dehydration, stress and sleep deprivation are the main causes of weight gain.   All three of these calls people to eat in excess of what they body needs. When you don’t get enough sleep, your brain keeps telling you to eat more and your body craves simple carbohydrates. So, if you want to make better choices, more focussed decisions and bring your A-game, give your body the time it needs in bed.

7.Drink up to absorb more

Successful entrepreneurs are like a sponge. They are constantly striving to soak up more knowledge, information and profits. They’re constantly looking for ways to soak up success. They attended conferences to determine if they are on the right course, are doing things properly and aligning themselves with the right people to take their business to the next level. Successful entrepreneurs rarely drink it up.

Ernest Hemingway claimed to “write drunk, edit sober” but we’re talking water here, not alcohol. Studies show that being properly hydrated. That being properly hydrated can make you perform better on tests and a decrease in your ability to focus Is an early warning sign that it’s time to drink up. Need another reason to drink more water. It speeds up your metabolism, which leads to fast weight loss, helps stay focussed, energised and evens out your mood.

8. Move your assets regularly

According to researchers at the University of Maryland, passion is a key ingredient in successfully creating and running a business. The passion successful people have is contagious and often inspires others to push forward in their business dreams endeavours. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak of heart and to be a successful entrepreneur, you have to enjoy what you do. The same is true of exercise.

So, if you don’t like running, then don’t run. But be sure to move your most important asset (that would be your body) regularly. You have to care about your body as much as you care about your business.  Like meal planning, you must schedule your workouts and prioritize them.  Without regular exercise, your health, productivity, and happiness will plummet.  30 minutes a day is all you need to live healthier and happier.

9. Have some entrepreneurial fun

Most entrepreneurs work 18 hours a day when starting a business. They feel like they need to spend every waking hour living, breathing and working in their business. They worry that if they aren’t all in, they will never reach the top. This practice is completely unnecessary and practically guaranteed to cause problems with your relationships, health and happiness. Not to mention inevitable burnout.

Studies have shown that downtime increases productivity, replenishes motivation, creates a more cohesive workforce and leads to great success.  To be physically and psychologically healthy, you must take regular breaks like an unplugged vacation. The world is not going to end if you leave your office for a week and your business will not tank.  But if you don’t unplug and have fun, your body is going to suffer.

10. Manage your health the way you manage your bottom line

The lifeblood of every business is cash flow. Without cash, a business cannot run. Funds are needed for computers, cell phones, employee payroll, advertising, accounting, legal and professional fees, and almost anything else required in the business. The most astute entrepreneurs know exactly when and where the cash is coming from at any given time, and they make gallant efforts to collect their annual returns.

Just like numbers are important in business, they are critical to understanding of the health of your body. Be sure to regularly check your health numbers:  blood sugars, blood pressure, blood cholesterol and body weight. Knowing the appropriate range for your gender, age, etc It is vitally important.  By keeping track of your numbers, you’ll be able to better manage your health and avoid preventable diseases.

Feeling out of balance? Small, simple changes can make all the difference to you and what you are able to achieve. If you don’t care of your body, where are you going to live?
