These three little words in English and other translations can transform earth into a utopia and earthlings into ‘superheroes’! That’s because ‘love’ is a ‘magical’ force! But love can fizzle out! Or, it can be hard to find! Or, you may not have encountered it yet. Or, you may never find it!

What does self-love mean?
What, is self-love? What, does it mean? Self-love is about placing yourself on a pedestal before any other person. Now, that statement may sound very selfish to some of you, but it is not! It is about ‘respecting and cherishing’ yourself. A great deal of you are in love with and love others but you may not feel or give this great gift to yourselves. Not many people are taught to love themselves! Not many people love themselves either! So, how can you love someone else so “truly, madly and deeply” but fail to love you? Many individuals are guilty of this or do not even give it a second thought. But, you should because by not loving yourself you are telling yourselves that you are unimportant and unworthy! Everyone is important and worthy, and everyone deserves to be ‘loved’ including you! However, if that is how you are treating yourself how can you expect others to treat you any better? If you have high regard for yourself others are more likely to view you and treat you with high regard! It’s the same with love!

To make a start on your own ‘self-love story’. You can do the following things:
- Make a pledge that you will start ‘loving yourself’ when you are ready to.
- When, you have made that pledge tell yourself you love yourself every day and mean it.
- Ensure that you dedicate time for yourself to do what you enjoy on a weekly basis and do not let anyone, or anything get in the way of your ‘ME’ time.
- Write a sincere love letter to yourself occasionally and review the ones that you’ve written when you need an emotional boost.
- Buy yourself a beautiful bouquet of flowers on a regular basis.
- Dress nicely for yourself if you look good then you’ll feel good.
- Never rely on others to make you feel ‘special’ do that for yourself because you are very ‘special’
