We live in an “ever now” culture where we are consumed by wanting to be liked, wanted, and idolized. The constant crave to be trending, to be revered, and to be seen by other popular celebrities, publications, and media creates a false sense of reality for us.
Our ambition now is to become the next YouTube star or to become Insta famous. The concept of becoming famous is not unfamiliar to us. But the concept of making an impact in other people’s lives and to serve others has been somehow blurred by the swift monopoly of #likeforlikes, #followforfollows, fake eye lashes, provocative poses with no context of empowerment.
The “ever now” culture buries those who have context from those who don’t. It buries those who are to be from those who are wanna bes. It creates a vortex of void when one does not gain the hurried number of likes or follows. The vortex of void is the beginning to the self destruction resulted from the “ever now” culture. Sleepless nights of refreshing one’s feed to get “live” status of stats to mindlessly scrolling through posts of others witnessing the 2 million likes or million followers catalyses our rate of depression to our sense of worthlessness. This ludicrous sense of unworthiness paralyses our mindset resulting in our body to respond in a manner where we become frozen in time. This in turn imprints a believe system that one has adopted from the time freeze – worthlessness.
Self worth is more than being superficially liked or being superficially followed. Self worth is the ability to over come the “ever now” culture that technology has enabled in our evolving society. Use the space that the ever-now culture provides you with the liberty to get your message out and do not let the ever now culture suck into a vortex of void to become stuck.
