How often do you hear of a 27-year-old serial entrepreneur who has built two 7-figure businesses?
My guess, not often.
Recently, I got a chance to interview Ross Johnson and I was able to ask him a few questions about his life and the challenges he faced while building two 7-figure businesses.
Here’s our conversation:
1. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Ross Johnson is a 27-year-old serial entrepreneur who has built two 7-figure businesses within the past 3 years. After exiting one of those businesses, he has recently created another education-based startup that teaches experts how to create businesses from packaging their knowledge into scalable online courses.
He believes that online courses with coaching support included is going to be the future of the education system because your customers will get to learn directly from the expert themselves.
2. What has been your greatest source of inspiration?
My greatest source of inspiration comes from the world around me. Every day when I look at how beautiful and intricate the world around me is, I am reminded that anything is possible.
Nothing is more impossible than being alive on earth and living in this fantasy we call life. If this is possible, anything is possible and that’s inspiring to me.
3. What challenges did you face while building two 7-figure businesses at the age of 26 and how did you overcome those challenges?
Everything you could imagine and more. I grew up poor, I worked my whole life, and when I finally left my parents’ house, I accidentally moved into a house full of drug addicts.
Not only that but by the time I realized, I had already dug myself into $20k worth of debt. I couldn’t leave and I was trapped. Once I finally saved enough to leave, I still struggled. I slept on floors, I tried to live with mentors, and for a period of time, I only ate 1 meal per day consisting of sweet potato, an avocado, and 1 chicken thigh. I ate that 1 meal for months because it only cost me $4 per day
I’ve been through a lot of financial struggles trying to reach these goals and learn how making money online works, but I always knew that eventually if I kept trying I was going to figure it out.
4. What words of advice would you like to share with anyone out there who is aiming to grow their online business?
Be stubborn about your vision and flexible on your methods for getting there. If you want to be a millionaire or impact the world be stubborn about it and don’t EVER give up. But also realize there are certain things that work and certain things that don’t work. Be flexible in how you achieve your goal and learn how it’s done from people who’ve already achieved it. Don’t argue with their methods, listen, and execute on them like a crazy person. Then, you just might make your vision a reality.
5. What are your hobbies?
As an entrepreneur, I think a lot. I am very strategic and in my head all day. So, at night I’ve taken up dancing to get more in touch with my body and my emotions. The dance I practice is called Shuffling and I often practice after my workday or go to festivals to dance.
6. What is your favorite quote in the world and why?
“Attached to nothing, Connected to everything”
I love this quote because it’s a great way to live. When we are attached, we create expectations and we try to control. When things don’t go as expected, we get upset. But, when we are unattached and still connected. You are there for others in a way that’s healthy without control or expectations. I’d rather be connected than attached any day of the week.
