3. What inspired you to write your book?

Publishing is a challenge for many doctoral scholars, particularly those who are new graduates.  The academic world includes expectations to publish; however, many scholars will offer that this is one of the points of most confusion as they are not taught how.

One of my passions is to help authors navigate the often confusing mysteries of the world of publishing, –these new scholars in particular.  Personally, I spent years learning and understanding the world of publishing (digital publishing in particular) as to how to leverage publishing as part of establishing my credibility as an author and expert in my field.

Candidly, many publishers simply want to sell publishing packages and one size simply does not fit all, particularly for the doctoral scholar, academic, consultant, or business expert. Publishing a book is just the beginning of the journey where expert and knowledgeable guidance is needed to move forward successfully and effectively.

There is more to publishing that just the book, the secret to success is learning to leverage publishing strategically to show up powerfully in the marketplace as a brand of choice.

4. What do you want others to get out of your book?

Publish date: October 23, 2020. Join Steve Farber, known for his philosophy of extreme leadership (Foreword writer) and our contributing scholars as they discuss doctoral research regarding changing the world through effective communication strategies of social media. Learn what’s new and what works for your business! This volume will continue to shape the conversation of future success in business leadership around the world.

5. How can we all move forward on purpose with great purpose?

As Mother Teresa often shared, “We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”  Take the time to focus on the difference you can make in the life of another. Sometimes leadership comes softly and in these small moments.  In the words of Steve Farber, even in the corporate world, love is just dam good business

6. What is something each of us can do to SHINE?

We need positive people willing to lead us forward. Believe in yourself and in your plan. Create a vision, create a plan forward and HAVE THE COURAGE to take the first step. Change is scary.  If we are not out of our comfort zone, we are not learning. Be willing to be uncomfortable. Be willing to love.  According to our foreword writer, Steve Farber—love is just dam good business!  Take care of those around you. Do more than expected. Show the world what you can do. Step out, take center stage, and shine as you share your much needed brilliance.

7. What does Thriving mean to you?

One of the secrets to thriving in life instead of only surviving is in overcoming fear and failure. Failure is not who we are, failure is not the outcome or the final destination, failure is simply the learning process as part of the journey forward to success. I help people process failure so that they can understand the many gifts—yes I said gifts!—that failure offers as life happens for us (not to us!). Remember, failure has no alibi!

8. Are you planning another book or other launches?

11. What is on thing you would tell others if they want to bring their message forward?

The fear of failure often stops people dead in their tracks.  In my case, failure stopped me for more than 30 years. I lost my love of music as well as the love of my life. I wasn’t strong enough in my early twenties to yet see the gifts that failure offered me in those moments. Now, I help people process failure. Failure is not the outcome, failure is not the destination, failure is NOT who we are. We need to learn to separate ourselves—the person, from ourselves—the skill we are trying to learn. Failure is simply a learning process we need to embrace to see the amazing gifts offered to us. The most desperate moments can become our most triumphant achievements—IF and WHEN we can see the wisdom of the gifts that failure brings. Believe in yourself and know that you’ve got this.  If you need a bit of help in the process, know that I can help. No need to let failure stop you; instead, let failure inspire and motivate you forward to discover the journey inward as you already have the answers you seek. Go forth and do great things. The world is waiting!
