Thank you so much for joining us, Shannon! Our readers would love to get to know you a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your backstory?
I was raised in the Catholic church, attending multiple times a week. Despite my deep-rooted faith, I felt a disconnect between the teachings I learned and my personal experiences. I was encouraged to study other religions, which led me to explore various spiritual practices. This exploration opened my eyes to the common themes of love, light, and connection to a higher power that transcends any single tradition, highlighting that spirituality is a universal experience. Each culture I studied enriched my understanding and allowed me to appreciate diverse perspectives on the divine.
Can you share your journey from traditional religion to exploring shamanism?
My journey took a pivotal turn after my divorce and the birth of my second child. I found myself overwhelmed by exhaustion and feelings of isolation. In that vulnerable state, I was introduced to plant medicine on a Native American reservation, which was a transformative experience. This practice helped me connect my breath to a higher consciousness and allowed me to see my life from a new perspective, awakening a sense of clarity and purpose that I had been missing. The plant medicine opened the door to a deeper understanding of myself and my connection to the universe, leading me toward shamanic practices that resonated with my soul.
How did shamanism impact your life as a single mother?
During some of the darkest moments, I felt incredibly alone and unworthy. However, embracing shamanism allowed me to tap into a wellspring of energy and purpose that I had forgotten. This shift not only revitalized my spirit but also provided me with tools to be a more present and engaged mother. The practices I learned helped me manage stress and cultivate resilience, which positively influenced my relationship with my children. Shamanism taught me to honor my emotions and encouraged me to model healthy coping strategies, creating a nurturing environment for my kids to thrive.
Can you explain what shamanism means to you?
Shamanism represents a deep, transformative connection to nature and the energies around us. It goes beyond the mere act of healing; it involves understanding the intricate web of life and our role within it. Shamanism teaches us to honor our ancestors and recognize how their experiences shape our current reality. It’s a pathway to self-discovery that enables us to embody the lessons of nature, facilitating profound personal growth. To me, it’s about integrating spiritual insights into everyday life and using that wisdom to navigate our challenges with grace and authenticity.
What techniques do you use in your practice to help others heal?
I utilize a variety of energetic practices, including breathwork, sound therapy, and guided meditations. Breathwork is particularly powerful as it connects the mind and body, allowing for the release of stored trauma. Sound therapy, using instruments like singing bowls, creates vibrations that help shift energy blockages. Together, these techniques facilitate a safe environment for introspection and healing, enabling individuals to reconnect with their inner selves. I also incorporate visualization techniques, helping clients to imagine their healing process and manifest positive outcomes in their lives.
How do you incorporate archetypes, like the snake, into your teachings?
The snake is a profound archetype in many cultures, symbolizing transformation and renewal. I encourage individuals to embrace the snake’s ability to shed its skin as a metaphor for letting go of past experiences and beliefs that no longer serve them. By embodying this energy, individuals can learn to release old patterns and welcome new possibilities, fostering personal growth and self-empowerment. This process often involves guided imagery, where participants can visualize themselves as the snake, experiencing the liberation that comes from shedding their past.
Can you share a powerful experience from your work with women?
I recently led a session with women in a rehab facility where we used sound and movement to help release emotional traumas. It was incredibly moving to witness their vulnerability and openness. Many expressed feelings of peace and relief after our session, something they hadn’t felt before. This experience reinforced the transformative power of community and collective healing, highlighting how connection can foster profound emotional release. It’s remarkable to see individuals support each other, creating a safe space for sharing and healing.
What steps do you recommend for someone struggling to let go of trauma?
I recommend starting with conscious breathwork. Inhale deeply, allowing your belly to expand, and visualize letting go of shame and pain with each exhale. Picture those negative emotions leaving your body, and as you inhale again, draw in positive energy and love. This practice can help clear emotional blockages and create space for healing and growth, facilitating a deeper connection to oneself. Additionally, journaling about your feelings and experiences can provide clarity and help identify specific areas where healing is needed.
How does your work differ from traditional therapy?
Traditional therapy often involves a hierarchical relationship where the therapist is seen as the expert. In contrast, my approach is collaborative. We are all equals in this healing space, which fosters a sense of community and shared experience. This equality allows for open dialogue and vulnerability, encouraging participants to explore their emotions without fear of judgment, making the healing process more impactful. In my sessions, I also emphasize experiential learning, allowing participants to engage with their feelings through creative expression and somatic practices.
What is your biggest takeaway from your spiritual journey?
My biggest takeaway is the realization that healing is not a destination but an ongoing journey. Each person has the innate power to heal themselves, and it’s our birthright to harness that energy. I want to empower others to recognize that they can influence their own healing process through awareness, intention, and self-love, embracing their unique path toward growth. It’s essential to honor one’s journey, understanding that setbacks are part of the process and can lead to valuable insights.
How can someone begin their own spiritual journey?
To embark on a spiritual journey, it’s crucial to seek out mentors or practitioners who resonate with you. Engage in practices such as meditation, breathwork, or sound therapy, which can help you connect with your inner self. Start small, allowing your curiosity to guide you as you explore different modalities and find what resonates with your spirit. Remember, it’s a personal journey, so honor your unique path. Surrounding yourself with supportive individuals can also greatly enhance your experience and foster growth.
What services do you offer for those interested in healing?
I provide a 90-day program that focuses on understanding and balancing the seven chakras. This program is designed to be personalized, helping participants address their unique healing needs. Additionally, I offer virtual sound baths and local workshops that explore various healing modalities, helping individuals connect with their energy and foster their spiritual growth. Each service is tailored to meet the individual’s needs, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healing.
Can you explain the significance of the full moon in your work?
The full moon is a powerful time for releasing negativity and setting new intentions. Its energy amplifies our emotional states, making it an ideal moment for reflection and letting go. During my sound baths, we harness this energy to deepen our healing practices, allowing participants to engage with the moon’s vibrations and facilitate their personal transformation. Many participants find that their intentions set during this time manifest more powerfully, enhancing their overall spiritual journey.
How do you address the epidemic of burnout in women today?
Burnout is a pressing issue, especially among women who often juggle multiple responsibilities. My work aims to empower these women by providing tools to recognize their energy needs and prioritize self-care. Through workshops and personalized sessions, I help them explore their emotions, establish boundaries, and reconnect with their passions, fostering a sense of balance and fulfillment. Additionally, I encourage the practice of mindfulness and stress-reduction techniques to help manage their daily pressures.
What role does community play in healing?
Community is vital in the healing process as it provides support, understanding, and shared experiences. When individuals come together, they create a safe space where vulnerability is embraced, allowing for deeper healing. In my practice, fostering a sense of community helps individuals feel less isolated in their struggles, promoting connection and collective empowerment. Together, we can celebrate victories and support each other through challenges, making the healing journey more enriching.
What advice would you give to someone skeptical about alternative healing methods?
I encourage skeptics to approach alternative healing methods with an open heart and mind. It’s essential to explore various practices without preconceived notions. Healing is a deeply personal journey, and what resonates with one person may not work for another. Being open to trying different modalities can lead to unexpected insights and healing opportunities. I suggest starting with small, manageable practices and gradually expanding as comfort and understanding grow.
How do you ensure that your practices are accessible to everyone?
Accessibility is a priority for me. I offer free sound baths and sliding scale options for my programs to ensure that healing is available to all, regardless of their financial situation. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore their healing journey, and I strive to create inclusive spaces for all individuals. I also provide resources and information online to help guide those who may not be able to participate in person.
How do you incorporate your children into your practices?
I involve my children in my practices by teaching them about energy and emotions from a young age. We engage in activities that promote mindfulness and awareness, helping them connect with their feelings. By fostering this understanding, I empower them to navigate their emotions and develop tools for self-healing early on in life. It’s important for me to instill these values in them, ensuring they grow up with a strong emotional foundation.
What inspired you to launch your podcast?
My podcast was inspired by my desire to share insights and experiences that can empower others on their healing journeys. It’s a platform for discussion, education, and connection, allowing me to reach a broader audience and provide resources that may help them in their personal growth and self-discovery. Through interviews and personal reflections, I aim to create a community of like-minded individuals seeking transformation.
What is your vision for the future of your work?
I hope to expand my reach, helping more women understand their power and encouraging them to embrace healing practices that resonate with them. My goal is to create a larger community where individuals feel supported in their journeys and can access various healing modalities, fostering empowerment and resilience for everyone involved.
