When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Trish McEvoy: Get a cup of coffee, grab my protein drink, and turn the TV on to see what is going on in the world and the day’s weather.

TG: What gives you energy?
TM: I have developed really great habits that have enabled me to compartmentalize and reflect on what needs to be done for the day. That coupled with an overall optimistic attitude toward life and a love for what I do is what many people call my battery pack.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
TM: I am always looking for solutions and moving forward.

TG: Name a book that changed your life.
TM: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
TM: I have a very personal relationship with my phone. It is the 3rd party in my bed and I like it that way!

TG: How do you deal with email?
TM: I check my email 3 times a day. First thing in the morning, middle of the day, end of day. I have learned that time is the most valuable thing you have and checking your emails constantly is a time robber.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
TM: I may take a walk or have a cup of coffee. If I’m at work with some of my team members or if I’m at home with my husband I’ll take the time to catch up with them.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out and why?
TM: I really don’t get burned out. I love what I do and I know how to pace myself.

TG: Share a quote that you love and that gives you strength or peace.
TM: These three are some of my favorites.
“Don’t ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is the special occasion.”
“No matter how much you revisit the past, there’s nothing new to see.”
“Outer order contributes to Inner Calm”
